We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Travel and Write Today recently and have shared our conversation below.

Lauren, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

Honestly, I’ve learned this past year, that it takes authenticity to be successful. My goal with Travel and Write Today is to consistently show up as my true authentic self, and to encourage others to do the same.

To be successful you need to be consistent, authentic, passionate, genuine, and kind.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I started my business as Write Today, with the intention of just sharing my writing journey, as well as sharing book reviews and recommendations. I started to post about my inspirations, and it always included my travel journeys, as well as local spots in surrounding neighborhoods. I decided to expand Write Today into Travel and Write today. Through social media, as well as my website, I publish travel guides and restaurant reviews, interviews with incredibly talented individuals (including local entrepreneurs), as well as my own writing – in hopes of inspiring others.

One of my favorite parts of TWT, is the ability to support local businesses throughout New England, and beyond, through guides/reviews, as well as partnering with small business to run giveaways.

I also love to share some of my favorite songs/musicians – music is a huge part of my life, and I love to share this with my community.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?

The most rewarding aspect of being a writer is the ability to inspire others through my words.

For travel writing – it is so rewarding when someone tells me that they visited a hotel or restaurant because of my recommendation, and that they loved it just as much as I did!

Every single time I share my own writing – or publish my interviews – I am hoping that it resonates with someone. That it made someone think, that it gave someone a quick escape, that my words inspired them to follow their dreams.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

Honestly, it is truly all about authenticity and consistency, and engaging with your community on social media. There are so many techniques out there, and I do believe that you should genuinely support other accounts – and then they will support you back – but you also want to keep sharing what you are passionate about and what you love. I found that if I share more of myself, the more engaged my community is with TWT – I love to share fun facts about myself, and I encourage others to share with me. Just keep showing up every single day, without the intention of going viral, just with the hope that you will make connections. People will find you…
