Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Temple. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lauren, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I want my legacy to be one of empowerment, positivity, and transformation. I hope to build a community within our fitness studio where every person who walks through the door feels supported, encouraged, and uplifted. I want to be remembered as someone who believed in the potential of every individual and worked tirelessly to help them unlock their inner strength and confidence.
I hope that when I am gone, people will say that I was a source of inspiration and motivation. I want to be remembered for my unwavering dedication to helping others achieve their goals, both physically and mentally. I want my legacy to be one of compassion, kindness, and unwavering support for my team and my clients.
In the end, I hope to be remembered not for the weights lifted or the miles run, but for the lives touched and the spirits lifted. I want to leave behind a legacy of positivity, encouragement, and love that will continue to inspire others long after I am gone. That is what I hope to build, and that is what I hope to be remembered for.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have a background in educational administration, a love for fitness which stems from my love for dance, but my true passion is leading people to help them achieve their goals and reach their peak performance.
I am the proud owner of a boutique fitness studio (with two locations in Baton Rouge, LA) where I have been able to combine my expertise in leadership with my passion for health and wellness.
One of the things I am most proud of is the team that I have built at my studio. I have worked hard to create a strong leadership structure that not only allows for personal growth and advancement within the team but also fosters a culture of mentorship and support. I believe in lifting others up and empowering them to reach their full potential, both in and out of the studio.
I am grateful for the opportunity to blend my background in education with my love for fitness to create a space where people can not only achieve their physical goals but also grow as individuals. My journey has been one of dedication, hard work, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those around me.

Let’s talk M&A – we’d love to hear your about your experience with buying businesses.
I have purchased two businesses in the fitness space. Both were boutique fitness studios that provided services/methods I believed would benefit clients. In both cases, the prior owners of each studio stayed on throughout the transition to ensure that things ran smoothly, clients were content, and that the transition was seamless. The two former owners still work with me today and we have a wonderful working relationship. Both sit on my leadership team and are invaluable to our business! Maintaining a close working relationship with these two women have benefited not only me (by providing advice and a listening ear at times) but our clients as well. We all get to benefit from their experience and expertise.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Well, first off-I don’t always get this right. There are good days and rough days.
I think for our team (around 55 people) one of the things that has worked well for us is breaking the team up into divisions with leaders over each department. We have a team leaders for each division. The team leaders are charged with being the chief promoter and cheerleader of their department. They communicate initiatives from the leadership team down to the instructors and they listen to their concerns as well. The Team Leaders plan at least two get-togethers a year for their team. One of those must be professional development and one we hope is purely social! We have fostered an environment of people open to giving and receiving feedback, attending each other’s classes, and focusing on personal/professional growth.
Another way we keep people motivated is by outlining a path for advancement within the company from the beginning and I try to spoil my team when I can. I LOVE to surprise my team! My dream in life is to be Oprah…If I were I’d be like, “YOU get a car! and YOU get a car!”
