We were lucky to catch up with Lauren Starr recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Parents can play a significant role in affecting how our lives and careers turn out – and so we think it’s important to look back and have conversations about what our parents did that affected us positive (or negatively) so that we can learn from the billions of experiences in each generation. What’s something you feel your parents did right that impacted you positively.
My name is Lauren Starr, I along with my Fiance, Tony Gaultney, own Glow Booth. I am involved with a number of different charities and organizations, all of which I find myself jumping on board the event committee or holding the chair position. Whether I’m designing parade floats, organizing the day-of operations, creating floor space layouts, or just coordinating with vendors, my passion has always been here. After doing event industry work voluntarily for the past 8 years I decided to take a leap. However, we wouldn’t be anywhere if it wasn’t for my awe inspiring fiance, Tony, who watched me create my vision day and night and gave us the final boost of confidence to jump off the ledge and make Glow Booth really come to life! We offer event rentals such as photo booths, backdrops (custom or standard), Champagne Carts via our sister brand Sips & Spritz, & balloons. Tell us your vision! Our goal is to create the picture perfect photo moment at each and every event. We will go the extra mile to customize each event to your exact taste, above and beyond displays are our favorite!
We do not limit you to 1-2 proofs, we will create full renderings of your event display AND we will create as many overlay proofs of your event until it is perfect for you. I’m extremely proud to say that average is not in our vocabulary. We are constantly looking for out of the box backdrops & design creations to make your day one of a kind.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Our audience is still on the smaller side, and I can tell you that every follower we have gained is an authentic follower and believes in our business and us as individuals. While it is small it is our BIGGEST source of bookings! My top piece of advice is just start. We did not wait until the business was up and running, we did not even wait until we had rental pieces. We started first before anything else with our instagram and word of mouth, we got our name out there, and we let our name be known. Our social media is still a large work in progress and we are always striving to gain more knowledge and tips. Never stop learning! (We are currently seeking a social media intern to add to our team!)

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
My mom has always told me that I am a fighter. When something knocks me to my core or knocks me down I come back stronger. We were told the industry doesn’t have room for us. We were told it will be cool for a couple months but then you’ll get sick of it and go back to your day jobs. Each doubter made us want it MORE! We are one year in and have done more than our doubters ever thought we’d do, one landmark at a time, we keep hitting our goals! We have had setbacks but our spirit and passion towards this business is here to stay! Tell us no and we will give you yes!
