We recently connected with Lauren Rodych-Eberle and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
What I’ve learned is that sometimes when you have to pivot, the universe sends you in the direction you were meant to go. I’ve spent most of my adult years as a private music teacher being my primary job, and while I’ve always been interested in entrepreneurial journeys and had many side gigs, I would have never expected that my journey and the direction of my career would go in the way it has. With 2020 bringing both the Covid-pandemic and the birth of my first child all at once, my teaching went almost completely virtual, which took me down the path of creating eCourses. Going virtual also gave me the space to create many other virtual endeavours like updating my website, creating cookbooks, starting a podcast, and then eventually becoming Certified as a Conscious Parenting Coach. Each one of those roles leading it’s way to the other, and all because of a customer request or suggestion. And now, my journey is very much Conscious Parenting focused, with webinars, individual coaching, and sharing as much free material as possible to benefit those who would not have access to it. All of that is happening while my husband and I are raising and growing our family, and running our Foundation, Sticks and Strings, to support kids overall well-being and parents in need. That’s all to say that I no longer believe in a 5 year plan, the way I used to, because 5 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you if you told me about even one of these endeavours, let alone, all of them!
Lauren, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have never been able to lock down my elevator pitch, but I’ve found that all of my endeavours have children and helping others as the focus. My main focuses at this time are my work as a Conscious Parenting Coach, where I’m helping parents enjoy the journey of parenting, parent from a place of love and connection, and reparent their own inner child when needed. I host monthly webinars on various topics, and have options for those who cannot afford to attend to come for free as per other’s kind donations! My other main focus is running my family’s Foundation, Sticks and Strings, where we help support kids and parents through our five pillars of sports, music, reading, the outdoors, and parents-in-need. My other endeavours are teaching music through private lessons and eCourses, running my website and blog, which talks all things parenting, food, travel, wellness, and you name it! You can also find me over at Kids Who Explore, especially on the podcast side of things. And I’m always dreaming up something new which sometimes looks like a new cookbook, or right now looks like selling sourdough starter. Each day is fresh with the variety of endeavours, but again, children and helping others are always at the forefront!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When I talked about a 5 year plan earlier, it goes back even farther than that, and I had to unlearn that you need to follow down one path, and that what you do is who you are – your identity. Because music has always been such a central part of my life, a big part of my identity has been “music teacher” or “music studio owner,” and pivoting away from that to pursue something else has been an unlearning in itself. I’ve learned that what you do is not who you are, that it is okay to change, and that each road leads you to the next.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Connection, connection, connection. That is not only the central strategy to enjoyable parenting and enjoyable relationships, but connection – true connection – interacting with people for the simple joy of connecting, learning, listening, hearing experiences, and acknowledging different viewpoints, is what grows a beautiful community. When you form a genuine connection with someone, they want to support you in all of your endeavours, even the new ones!
