We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauren Roberts. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauren below.
Lauren , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What’s been the best thing you’ve ever seen (or done yourself) to show a customer that you appreciate them?
When clients book with Evermore Wedding Officiants, they get both a mention with an image on our socials & website along with a very special marriage certificate that can be used during their wedding photos after the ceremony. After the wedding we wait a few days to a week later (in case the lovely couple are on their honeymoon right after the wedding), we send them a thank you card in the form of snail mail (preferably if we have their address) or a digital version as a text or email along with a picture/video of ourselves delivering their marriage license. We aim to always give the clients peace of mind of turning in the license for them so to not worry about who has it during the reception or upon returning back to their place of lodging for that night. We stick with our clients every step of the way from their inquiry to their 1st anniversary when they receive a special happy anniversary gift from us.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My business partner Dyan and I have been certified ordained ministers since June 25th, 2020. As we both were also photographers with both our own and joint photography businesses, we had thought we could offer bundle packages for wedding photography with TruPicturePerfection and the use of one of us to be their officiant as well through Evermore Wedding Officiants. Even though we haven’t done any bundle packages yet (mostly due to Covid-19 and their social distance requirements for most weddings depending on venue rules), we still bring our “A” game to every wedding to go above and beyond for our clients on their special day! We are a LGBTQ+ friendly business and believe everyone should be able to marry who they love no matter what their sexual orientation is!
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I was asked to help out at a separate photography studio location when Portraits in Minutes/The Picture People over in Southlake and that is where I had met the Studio Manager of that location. Dyan McNeely and I hit it off right away to where she had frequently requested for myself to help her out to the point where she helped get myself transferred to her studio. We left the studio company for personal reasons and ended up working within the same hospitality company as well! We were always in great spirits no matter if we were having a good or bad day in our lives. It just made sense to work together for our own businesses as our own bosses as well. We did hit a few patches in the road, but that is about the same for every business owner no matter what so we didn’t let us stop us as we created our dreams of creating memories with our clients of their special moments.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Our most effective strategy for growing our clientele is based on being involved in the wedding community as much as possible. We send emails to vendors such as venues, florists, bridal boutiques for example to schedule a time to be able to stop by to introduce ourselves and get to know one another. We occasionally will leave business cards or do some small time collaborations with the other vendors to help spread the word of mouth for all of our businesses. We help create a recommendations list for towns where the happy couple are planning to say “I Do” as a way to show how much we care about both them and of their wedding.
