Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Lyons. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lauren, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
My first dollar earned as a creative and my first job EVER was being a recording session vocalist for Universal Studios Japan Theme Park at 12 years old! I sang a variety of classic American songs that had different messages and tones depending on which section of the park it played in. So when guests visit, they could hear my voice throughout.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in sunny Southern California and love to entertain and make people laugh. From a young age, I’ve been a creative storyteller – at first for my own enjoyment and then for the delight of many.
As soon as I discovered that playing dress up and make believe could be a full time career, I never looked back.
My love of performing led me to train at the Orange County School of the Arts, South Coast Repertory, and NYU Tisch where I graduated with a BFA in Drama and a Double Minor in Business Entertainment and Producing.
In my performances, I strive to find the heart, intellect, and passion in my characters, especially in those that are misunderstood or overlooked. Making an audience care about a character, no matter how morally good or bad is one of my specialties.

Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve been told I have what you call “a familiar face”. Often, when people meet me, they think I’m someone they’ve met before. Because of this, strangers open up to me, telling their stories. I absorb this information and pour it into the characters I portray.
I’ve also been called a chameleon because of the way I’m able to blend and adapt to different environments / roles. Being able to provide a voice and vessel for these stories to come to life is an honor and I love diving into the intricacies of these complex characters.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I’ve had to unlearn and still am actively unlearning is my “perfectionist” mindset. People, characters, and the world we live in – it’s all inherently messy. Embracing the mess is what makes us human, relatable, and unique.
I’ve really tried to (in an ironic way haha) “perfect” the mess.
Throughout my training, one note always popped up over the years “just say the words”. With my overthinking ways, I am my own worst enemy.
