Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Lerner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lauren, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back, what’s an important lesson you learned at a prior job?
Working in retail shaped me in ways that go far beyond selling products. It taught me how to run a business by focusing on people first. I learned that customer service isn’t just about transactions, it’s about creating trust and delivering an experience, which is the same mindset I bring to every client relationship today. Managing teams in retail showed me how to motivate different personalities, handle challenges in real time, and balance accountability with support, all of which I now use to lead my own team. And the day-to-day realities of retail- fast-paced, unpredictable, and demanding – gave me the resilience and adaptability I rely on as a business owner, reminding me that strong systems and a steady hand are what keep everything moving forward.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I started my career in retail, where I learned the fundamentals of customer service, people management, and creating memorable experiences- skills that became the foundation for my work today. Over time, I realized my passion was in design and building homes that not only look beautiful but also feel deeply personal to the people who live in them. That led me to launch my own interior design and construction firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, where we specialize in full-service interior design, remodels, and luxury furnishings. Our team guides clients through everything from architectural details and material selections to custom furniture and final styling, without the overwhelm that often comes with big projects by offering a seamless, guided process.
What sets us apart is our commitment to both creativity and service. We don’t just deliver polished spaces, we deliver peace of mind. Our clients trust us to balance vision with practicality, manage all the moving parts, and advocate for them at every stage. I’m most proud of the relationships we’ve built, the trust clients place in us, and the transformations we create that go beyond design to truly enhance how people live. For anyone getting to know us, I’d want them to know that our work is rooted in heart, integrity, and a genuine passion for crafting spaces that reflect each client’s story while offering timeless function and luxury.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I first started building my social media presence, I made a conscious decision to treat it like an essential part of my business rather than an afterthought. Early on, I invested in professional photography because I knew high-quality visuals would be the backbone of my brand. Over time, I brought on a social media team whose expertise helped me create consistent, polished content that truly reflected the level of service and design we deliver. It wasn’t a small investment, but I believed if I was going to do it, I needed to do it the right way – with intention, quality, and strategy.
What may surprise people is that I leaned into social media during COVID, at a time when many businesses were pulling back on marketing. My perspective was that it was actually the best moment to double down, since people were at home and spending more time online. That decision gave me the chance to get ahead and stand out while others hit pause. For those just starting out, my advice is to view social media as an extension of your brand. Invest in strong visuals, show up consistently, and don’t be afraid to lean on experts who can help you build a presence that aligns with your long-term goals. It’s less about quick wins and more about building trust and credibility over time.
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
Yes, my business is built on multiple revenue streams that work together to create both stability and growth. At the core, we have our interior design service fees, which cover everything from full-service design to remodel planning. We also generate revenue through retail product sales, since furnishings and custom pieces are a major part of delivering a finished space. Beyond design and furniture, we manage construction projects directly, which allows us to oversee the entire process end-to-end.
I also invest in high end luxury properties. This keeps me plugged into the real estate market and it helps me understand firsthand how design decisions actually affect property values. These different income sources work together to support what we’re ultimately doing: creating spaces that are beautiful and functional while building real long-term value.
