Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Lee. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Hi! I’m so happy to be here, thank you for having me! My journey to starting Lo Maintenance Living began in 2021 when my decade long career in retail management ended abruptly. I never imagined having to start over, but this was my chance to pursue something that I’ve always had a passion & a knack for. I started organizing my family & friends’ homes and realized that I no longer wanted to work for anyone but myself; so I took a leap of faith and got my LLC. My mission is to successfully help clients achieve the overall function and organization of their homes. Serving others, going above and beyond & bringing the element of joy back into homes is my mantra. I began this company with every intention of putting my passions into play, and there truly is nothing that tugs on my heartstrings more than receiving a text from a client who is in awe of their new space. I am incredibly grateful & eager to continue my journey, and this is just the beginning!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m Lauren, also known as Lo- founder of LML. I was born & raised a Florida gal, have been married to the love of my life & biggest cheerleader for 6 years, and I am a proud mama to three perfect poodles. I studied retail merchandising & business at Florida State University, which led to my career in the retail management industry for over 10 years. I am a workhorse, proud business owner & never meet a stranger!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I think it’s simple. If you consistently create positive experiences from start to finish, people talk about it! When your heart is invested in your livelihood it shows, and your clients will always be the purest and most effective marketing strategy out there. I also believe in the power of social media because of the access it allows me to have to the public. The ability to showcase my work & support others are very important to me. I have had past, present and future clients tell me that they’ve followed my work for a while; and most of the time I’ve never even met them! It’s an incredible tool to grow your business, but I will say that social media is still VERY intimidating to me. I really do enjoy creating content, but I have started to ignore the “rules” and post when and what I want, because it’s my choice. Not everyone will want to follow your journey, and that is okay. I am a firm believer in doing what works for you, and whatever is meant for you will happen; clientele included.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
People pleasing is a blessing and a curse. Setting boundaries and realizing that I am running a business is something I am still working on. If it were up to me I’d help every person I possibly could. With that being said, I still have to take care of myself and know my worth at the end of the day.
A dear friend of mine has coached me on this topic and has been a great source of support and advice throughout my journey. I now feel called to help other young entrepreneurs and be their source of support like she was for me. Creating an inner circle that understands this journey is vital in my opinion. I’m very lucky to have so many cheerleaders!
