We recently connected with Lauren Wells and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you get your first job in the field that you practice in today?
My journey into the field of holistic wellness began in an unexpected way. After college, during the 2008 market crash, I made a pivotal decision to quit my job in social services and enlist in the US Navy. However, during my training, I suffered a severe third-degree burn, which led to my discharge from the program before fully enlisting. This setback was a pivotal moment in my life, sparking my personal fitness journey.
Determined not to let this setback define me, I channeled my energy into physical fitness. This personal journey ignited a passion within me, leading me to start a new career as a fitness trainer. However, after experiencing hypothyroidism, gut health issues, and being diagnosed with two autoimmune diseases, I realized the importance of gut health and a holistic approach to well-being. Nurturing the mind and body became vital, which catapulted me into pursuing nutrition and life coaching, focusing on helping women combat stress with nutrition and holistic lifestyle practices.
My background in health goes back even further. From a young age, I have always had a heart for helping people. Starting out studying nursing and working as a pharmacy technician in high school and college, I was immersed in the health industry from my teenage years. I’ve always seen our health as one of our biggest assets.
Reflecting on that time, I remember feeling a mix of determination and uncertainty. My goal was clear: to help others achieve optimal health and well-being. The process of gaining clarity on my path was challenging, but it also taught me resilience and perseverance. I had to prove myself in a competitive industry, but my personal story and dedication to health helped me stand out.
Looking back, I am incredibly grateful for that initial setback. It led me to discover my true calling and develop a deep passion for holistic wellness. Today, I am a health and wellness coach specializing in digestive health and mindfulness. This journey has allowed me to empower countless individuals to take control of their health through a balanced and holistic approach.
Although I never served, the short time training for the military that led to starting my fitness career laid the foundation for everything I do today. It taught me the importance of resilience, adaptability, and continuous learning. My experiences have shaped me into a practitioner who understands the interconnectedness of the mind, body, and spirit, and I am passionate about sharing this knowledge with others.

If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
If I could go back, I would absolutely choose the same profession. I have no regrets and truly love what I do in the wellness industry. The journey has been incredibly rewarding and fulfilling a mission close to my heart. That said, if I were to ever had to choose a different profession, I do have a strong love for entrepreneurship and often think about how fulfilling it might have been to pursue a career in marketing and advertising, supporting other entrepreneurs. The mindset and personal development aspects of entrepreneurship are incredibly appealing to me, and I enjoy seeing how these elements drive success and innovation.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Yes, I would say my top 5 are The Body Keeps the Score, Think & Grow rich, Secrets of a Millionaire Mind, Breath by James Nestor, and Happy Pocket Full of Money.
