We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauren Kirk. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauren below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you had a defining moment that you feel really changed the trajectory of your career, we’d love to hear the story and details.
That was by choice. After being discharged from the hospital I could not make it a few hours without experiencing excruciating pain. I was given buckets of muscle relaxers and pain killers, to simply help my body be at ease. However, these options came with their own mountain of side effects.
That’s when I decided to lean even further into integrative healing practices. It wasn’t that far-fetched for me – I was an active Yogi, hyper-focused on nutritional wellness, and had been passionately studying the impact of meditation on cognitive development in my graduate studies. However, it was still a new venture for me, and I admit I was initially skeptical.
The first time I received fire cupping, I was in awe. I had lived with dull, chronic pain for so long – the absence of it was astounding. From there, I branched into other acupuncture services, and leaned on more contemplative therapies like massage, infrared sauna, and salt therapy to sustain my healing. Over time, I didn’t need the medication anymore – I wasn’t just masking the symptoms; my body was healing, naturally.
After moving to Lake Nona, the time it took to engage in these services was not sustainable. The businesses were too far spread out across the county, and there weren’t really any similar options in the immediate area – I decided it was the perfect opportunity to curate everything that helped me heal under one roof and provide those same quality, organic services to our beloved neighbors.
Hence, Lightly Salted was born. It has been an incredible journey – one that was born from tremendous pain, but resulted in something I am truly proud of. I am forever grateful for the God-given opportunity to provide the same healing and comfort I needed, to my community.

For one, we painstakingly research every single product that is used in our services. We do this so our guests don’t have to. Everything – down to the organic oils and bamboo toilet paper – are products that I would have in my own home. I believe that inflammatory, toxic, synthetic chemicals cause more harm than healing and that’s absolutely counter-intuitive to our mission.
Our service providers have an average of 10 years experience in their craft, and are incredibly passionate about how their work can facilitate healing – for this, we offer full 60 minutes hands-on services and add additional time for consultation before and after each session. We want guests to feel heard and supported – we know you’re coming in for a reason, and we are there to help you on your healing journey. There is no ‘turn and burn’ here.
Our front desk staff prides themselves in creating a totally hospitable environment from start to finish. We offer organic tea at the beginning or end of each session and welcome our guests to relax and decompress in our front room – setting the stage for the deeply restorative services ahead.
Finally, our space is beautifully designed and always well maintained. You won’t believe how many five-star reviews we receive that mention cleanliness amongst comments around the quality service and helpful staff.
That is the reputation our brand continues to carry, and is what I am most proud of!
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
Passion. If you don’t have a passion for what you do, burnout is just around the corner. Running a small business can be draining. It’s important to remember the why behind your brand. It’s important to retain that spark and use it to continuously ignite your sense of worthiness and drive, so you can be open and available for customers who truly love and connect with your brand and services. Over time, those people find their way to your doors.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Similar to the above – maintaining that sense of passion and drive. Treating each guest like a new friend and working to be as hospitable and kind as possible. We sincerely prioritize that for each and every person that comes through our door. Our brand has a story but so do our patrons, and our mission is to provide a hospitable environment so their healing journey – which remains part of their story- can truly begin.
The integrity of our brand always takes center stage – we never, ever compromise on quality of service or products. It’s just not who we are, or what we stand for.
