We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Jewel a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lauren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
Ever since I was born, I was destined to be an entrepreneur.
I grew up watching my father run a very successful screen printing and embroidery business, called Jewel & Company. Building not just one but two successful businesses during my lifetime. His vision began in the basement of his home back in the 70s which organically grew into a custom-built 4-million-dollar warehouse. All of which were done in 10 years or less.
In the late 2000’s he sold Jewel & Co and pivoted to the school uniform industry. This was when he began establishing The All-American Wear Warehouse. Supplying all the local public and private schools in the PG county area.
This allowed me to subconsciously see that being an entrepreneur isn’t something you do – it’s who you BE.
So, while I was making flyers as a child to become the go-to neighborhood dog walker and in-home dog sitter, I never doubted in my mind that as I got older entrepreneurship would be calling my name. I just never imagined what would come next.
What many won’t tell you is that becoming an entrepreneur is that you’re starting a business attached to a self-discovery process. Every single shadow, wound, and insecurity will show its face and for some, it’s the self-discovery process that either what takes them over the moon or it’s the reason they tap out of the industry.
We usually are unaware that our programming, subconscious beliefs, and nervous system all play a part in our ability to expand, grow and hold the success we desire. The reason we don’t is because we were taught that all good things in life must be worked hard for. So, we work, we play hard, put our needs last, all in vain for the hopes that one day we can sit under a palm tree sipping on our refreshing drink of choice with absolutely no plans for the day other than a few planned dips in the salt water. So it’s a real buzz kill when we find out if what I said above was true, then many of us would be under palm trees by now.
I began my entrepreneurial journey with dreams that I would soon become a millionaire. I envisioned myself traveling around the world, being on stage, and collecting a hell of a lot of memories while the money poured into my account with little to no effort.
I was 23 when this vision was placed in my mind. I was sitting in a large room with over 8,000 people in Palm Springs, CA. It was the first time I had ever traveled alone, and I was flying high in optimism because I watched men & woman my age walk across a stage sharing their stories at a yearly event called NYKO. This was happening because of the MLM company I had partnered with just 6 months prior.
I had invested in $200 worth of high-quality nutrition products, lost 20 lbs., and my mood was better than ever – even better I was told that if I shared my story and passion for this nutrition system, I could make the money back, plus more. Coming from a girl who hadn’t completed college, was working 6 days a week behind a bar, and wanted to get off the hamster wheel of trading my time for money I saw this opportunity as my golden ticket to achieving every want, desire, and dream I had. I had found the vehicle that would get me to that dang palm tree!
I had a strong passion for the products, and I knew the systems they had in place worked due to my own personal transformation using them. So, I ignorantly shared my passion and story with hopes that I’d be sailing off into the sunset only a year later. Who wouldn’t want to get healthy and make money while doing so?!?!
Turns out a lot of people don’t. I also learned more about the reputation of the industry and though I had found a company that had high standards, integrity, amazing products, and killer payouts people let what other bad apples of the industry deter them away or caused them to show up with a heavy dose of skepticism from the start.
As time went on, I soon realized that my millionaire dreams of making a massive impact were not as close as I thought. I noticed that even though my customers would achieve results from the products, they would soon sabotage any result they achieved. I didn’t know why this would happen I just knew there was more to the story than nutrition. Turns out I was right, and it would turn out to be the lack and understanding of the role our mindset, adaptive behaviors, nervous system regulation, energetics, and self-worth play in the art of change & nourishment of our mind and body.
I knew deep down I wanted to make a bigger impact. I wanted to change people’s lives and teach them how to change their entire lifestyle rather than teach them how to rely on products or feel the pressure to sell them. My quest to understand how I could provide clear results and find a solution to this predicament is what led me to start my own coaching business and putting down the millionaire MLM dreams back in 2021.
Back then I didn’t know how I would make a massive impact, nonetheless, what I really wanted to do with my life. I just knew that I was destined to be the CEO of my own business. It was a feeling deep within my gut that told me my story played a part in my journey of entrepreneurship, I just didn’t understand that what I was going through behind closed doors would be the very thing that my business was founded upon.
Behind closed doors I was struggling with self-worth issues, limiting beliefs, sleep problems, anxiety, stress, relationship issues, and a heavy case of workaholism. I constantly felt the need to prove myself and was burning myself out in the process. As time went on, I discovered that I wasn’t the only person who struggled with their physical, mental, and spiritual health, no, it was those who did not struggle with these three pillars, that were the real unicorns out of the bunch.
That’s when it dawned on me, “The deeper I heal, the higher I go”.
The more I invested in my own personal transformation, embodied the woman in my vision, identified core wounds, regulated my nervous system, reprogrammed my subconscious mind, rewrote my new belief system, personalized my own nutrition, danced with fear, and learned how to expand my comfort zone – the faster I would reach my dreams and help others along the way.
But, how? What would the vehicle be? What could I possibly provide?
Interestingly, it took me investing my time and money into a year of mentorship, going back to school at the Institute of Transformational Nutrition & working under my mentor Tracy Litt till I began to see my own personal story as my brand, vehicle, and purpose in life.
I asked myself – What would you want/need to make this process easier if the version of you three years ago was looking to begin the process all over again? My reply was that I wouldn’t want to have to search high and low for a seemingly simple task. That task was to address my health with a multidimensional approach. Except here in America, the mind and body have been separated and many of us give our agency away to doctors, medications, and the judgment/opinions of others.
After spending years researching, experimenting, and learning in school about healing the mind & body, I found that nutrition/nourishment is so much more than food. It’s what we eat, think, surround ourselves with, how we see ourselves, and understand ourselves, and anything we digest metaphorically and physically.
The Three Pillars that changed my life were…
1. Physical Nutrition |
– Personalized nutrition co-created with the client & coach.
– Cookie cutter isn’t successful for a reason. Yes, it may feel easier, but why not learn WHY you’re eating and what brings you the most benefit while still being able to enjoy yourself.
– With the latest science, we are now understanding due to the study of epigenetics and the microbiome that our internal & external environment, genetics, traumas, and lifestyle all play a part in our health. So why not find a way to enjoy what you love in a personalized way that empowers you and is beneficial to your unique blueprint to the healthiest expression of YOU. Understand WHY & WHAT it needs to THRIVE rather than survive.
– What foods provide energy vs take away our energy – Dropping the calorie programming and understanding the macro and micronutrient levels of foods to assist your individualized needs in all seasons of life.
– Education about the things that cause dis-ease, inflammation, and discomfort
– Mapping out where your symptoms started & the connection between mind & body
– Understanding your unique nervous system and how to regulate and self-soothe to promote a calm state to establish a healthy foundation for a thriving, healthy, happy connected mind, and body
2. Mental Nutrition | Understanding the Mindbody connection and how to become the next-level version of you.
A combination of neuroscience, metacognition (High level thought work), psychology, quantum law, and somatic body therapies.
– Education around the Brain, Heart, Gut, and Nervous System Connection and the part it takes in our mental health
– Reprogramming our subconscious mind, and encoding new beliefs around who we are becoming
– Understanding resistance, emotional addictions, adaptive behaviors, and our biological fear response.
– Education and identification around the effects of trauma and the impact on the brain and nervous system
– Solutions and practical tools for clients to implement themselves to become their own guru
3. Spiritual Nutrition | Connection with self, friends, family, and nature; connecting to your purpose & future self
– Relationships are our greatest teacher. Identifying our attachment style, inner child needs, and shadows
– Tapping into our body’s wisdom; using our breath as an organic and natural pharmacy on-demand + Somatic Body Therapies (You can’t do mindset work without including the body)
– Leveraging nature as a form of therapy
– Cultivating self-trust, love, and unshakable belief in yourself
My multidimensional approach allows us to nourish ourselves physically, mentally, and spiritually.
This was the day my 3D Approach to Total Body Wellness was born & my vision made a hell of a lot more sense.
My purpose was to take the complicated and avoided parts of health and simplify them down to a simple system.
A system that allows for unity within the whole person, achieving the highest expression of health. I do this because I never want someone to experience the consequences, I endured from giving my power away to anything outside of myself before I knew better.
My story is a good one, but I’d be lying if I told you, it was a fairytale or that it didn’t almost kill me. Continue reading to learn more.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
If you’ve ever watched a woman step into her power, you don’t just see her shine, you FEEL her light.
Her light reaches out and touches every single person she encounters. You feel her presence continents away from the chair you sit in; to the very screen, you’re looking at. She’s the scroll stopper, the showstopper, the one who makes you feel seen, and even heard. She moves you internally. Her energy is contagious. She lights a fire in your soul. Reminding you of every dream, desire, and thought-provoking idea you tucked away in fear. Maybe it was fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of success, or even fear of responsibility, whatever the fear you identified with, it was enough to tuck it away and lock it up. That woman you crossed paths with woke it up.
I’ve had the honor of coming across such a woman. It turns out she wasn’t so out of reach. What I once thought was a fairytale was right in front of me. She was my reflection. She was my shadow. She was with me the entire time.
I’d run into her from time to time in my 30 years here on earth. It wasn’t until 2019 that I began to feel her more often. I began to understand that the woman I spoke of, and the woman I was in search of, was within me. She had been with me all along. I cried tears the day I really saw myself. The woman I had been searching for wasn’t outside of my reach like I believed her to be. I looked for her in other people. I spent 15 years of my life on an endless quest to reach her through any form of chemically altering substances. I found relief within men for short periods of time but when it really came down to it – she wasn’t outside of myself – she was within me. She was ME and I am HER.
I had disconnected from her due to a combination of events that had taken place in my life. From dealing with childhood trauma, addiction, and toxic relationships, somewhere along the line I forgot what it was like to dream, again. I did so, all in the name of the American “responsible dream”. I tried on a ton of different masks and identities for as long as I can remember until I looked in the mirror one day, and who I saw was unrecognizable.
I had dug myself into a self-sabotage hole. Going in circles instead of spirals all because I had a portfolio of unresolved trauma. This led me through a long-winded experience with drug addiction, toxic love addiction, and multiple health ailments.
It was New Year’s Eve, and the ball was dropping soon. 2019 was a few minutes away and here I was standing in the pouring rain, outside of the restaurant I was working at. The smell of wet garbage and cigarettes filled the air. I could hear laughter and bottles of champagne being opened to be poured for the big ball drop. Yet, I was waiting for a cab to take me to get “well”. In my mind, I knew I was missing out. Not because of the parties and the celebrations all around me. No, I was missing out because I had a subtle voice inside of me telling me that I had to make a choice. The little but powerful voice inside turned out to be the very reason I chose to get sober in 2019.
That night something told me I would be sharing my story with millions one day. There was something bigger than myself guiding me at that moment. I had no idea how I would do “that”; I just knew I needed to get sober and everything else would play out.
Today I share this with you on my path to purpose.
Since 2019 I’ve had to hit the reset button on my life. Starting from scratch, cleaning up, and buttoning up all the loose ends I destructively left during my 10 – year run with addiction.
I was an emotionally wounded girl running around in an adult body for many years. I think it’s safe to say many of us are. We wonder why things go wrong, why we continue to hit roadblocks, relationships don’t work out, why we react so viciously to a seemly small ordeal, or why we’re so dang tired all the time and it all comes down to our past unresolved traumas.
I first began to feel unsafe in my body as a young kid mostly triggered by the fear and shame of expressing my feelings and being myself around my parents and friends. Like most of us, while growing up, I didn’t pay much attention to these feelings or to my body. I thought they were normal or, “This is life”.
I was told that my depression was due to a deficiency in Lexapro. I’d soon find out that my depression was rooted in a dysregulated nervous system, nutrient deficiencies, low self-worth, and a past filled with unresolved emotions. I was a walking billboard for what happens to someone when they have unresolved childhood trauma. It showed up in a folder filled with self-protective behaviors, masks, and physical symptoms that limited me from living life to the fullest. Eventually, this led me to my addiction.
Trauma is a survival response. It’s how our system has organized in response to what has happened to us. It is not necessarily an event that leads to trauma but the absence of resources and support, internally and externally. What can be traumatizing for someone may not be traumatizing for someone else.
I decided to begin focusing on my nutrition, and the mindset work needed to begin the internal work to free myself of this pain. I was done relying on medications and sick of doctors making me feel like I was powerless over my body.
It was once I took my power back, once I realized I had the power all along, that life began to work alongside me, rather than, against me.
A series of events would soon lead me down a path of insane transformation. I didn’t know it at the time but what seemed like “common sense” to me, became the inspiration for what I’d soon turn into my own unique coaching approach.
First, I addressed my nutrition to begin holistically healing my brain and body after detoxing from my psych medications, getting sober, and taking myself for granted my health for all those years. This eventually provided me with a better mood, better sleep, and more energy.
My nutrition research would soon lead me back to the self-development world. Mind-blown and inspired, I began reading life-changing books, watching TEDx talks, and becoming obsessed with podcasts. Though it was not my first rodeo in the coaching industry, I was looking at the opportunity with a different set of eyes. It was like an entirely new world to which I was introduced. My self-esteem was growing, and I was HUNGRY for more. What I once thought was impossible was becoming more and more possible every single day.
Over three years, I’ve hired multiple mentors and invested over 40k in my education to pursue my calling. A calling that began to burn deeply within my soul. Each layer takes me deeper and deeper into this transformational work. The way I saw it was for me to make a mark within this industry – I needed to be an example of what I was being called to preach.
I wanted to give people their power back like I had taken mine back.
It was, May 2021, when I was least expecting it, I was gracefully introduced to the woman who opened my eyes to what’s possible. Looking back, it was because I agreed to jump on a Team Call that was held weekly for an MLM company I had partnered with. Always open to hearing from established coaches, I agreed to listen in. Her words were like lightning through my soul.
She spoke on things I never knew I needed to hear. Things like subconscious work, new paradigm leadership, doing less work and making more money, cultivating unshakable self-worth, healing childhood wounds, and becoming the next-level version of yourself. She explained the #1 reason why people never reach their full potential was due to our biological fear response and the self-worth issues that are running rampant across our world.
I was pulling my credit card out before she even finished the call.
Her work allowed me to finally put everything I had learned into action. She gave me the HOW behind all the personal development HYPE. I knew immediately that I want to work underneath her and become a master in the methods she had provided. She spoke of nervous system regulation, reprograming the subconscious mind, learning how to become the non-judgmental observer of yourself, emotional addictions, and finally, she taught me how to take radical responsibility for my life and become the woman in my vision while dancing with fear.
I went on to befriend my fear of going back to school and starting my Coaching business.
First, I had to drop into my body and learn to release my old limiting beliefs, release, and heal traumas that had been within me since I was non-verbal and create a belief system that matched the woman who now sits here writing this sentence. Before I even thought of working with clients, I had to first take care of myself.
If I already had the belief system of who I am today, I would have already been her. Remember the woman I spoke of earlier that had stepped into her power? This is the becoming process of HER.
What I found was the personal growth work I had been familiar with in the past wasn’t teaching us to incorporate the body and was leaning far too left on thought work, leaving me spinning my wheels. It’s my belief that the reason many stay in a therapy loop, never feeling safe enough to trust themselves is that they have not fully released and processed the trauma and emotion from the body. Research has proven that trauma when not properly processed is stored within the body and when left untreated this leads to chronic disease. Symptoms show up as issues from brain/body inflammation, hormonal imbalances, PTSD, anxiety, depression, autoimmune disorders, fertility issues, nervous system dysreguBeforeand insomnia
Prior to my addiction, I had been programmed to believe that emotions were not good, a waste of time, and those who showed them were TOO sensitive. That was before I understood that it’s that VERY programming that causes emotional dysregulation, dis-ease within the body, compounding trauma, and relationship problems, and it steals the dreams of millions of lives daily.
No matter how healthy I was eating, how well I watched my thoughts, how much I slept or worked out; until healing the nervous system and body are incorporated into the equation – you’re going to find yourself putting Band-Aids over a large open wound. This is because the nervous system controls everything your body does and is what connects the brain-gut axis. If the nervous system is dysregulated and chronically stuck in a fight or flight state – your body will believe it is sick.
If you are a human being living on the planet at this point in history, you have probably experienced or coping with the imprints of unresolved trauma. Disconnection and dysregulation are the marks of unresolved stress and trauma. From the depths of the unconscious, a pervasive state of feeling unsafe and out of synchrony in our bodies, relationships, and the world leaves us depleted, suppressed, and defensive. We tend to orient to the world in a self-protective way.
My journey of trauma transformation began the moment I recognized how disconnected, aloof, and emotionally unsafe I was in my body. I was walking and felt as though only my head was walking and not my full body. I would talk with people and constantly find myself zoning out into the past or worrying about the future. I was here, yet, I wasn’t.
Although, I had no idea about trauma at that point, intuitively, I knew that this disconnection was largely the cause of why I felt so alienated from life and myself, overwhelmed by symptoms. In that moment of recognizing the pain of my body, a wave of compassion surfaced, and I began to treat the body as a beloved and wise companion, as a wounded child and trusted friend. My body responded immediately to this and offered me insights, perspectives, and guidance about what is the next step and then the next one.
As we carry the blueprint for survival and protection, we also carry the blueprint for healing and transformation. Your system knows how to heal in the same way as it knew how to self-protect.
I have completed not one but two certifications. Confident to serve you as a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach & Certified Master Mind Magic Practitioner. My vision was to combine everything I had learned over the years, creating a simple system that allowed my clients to become their own gurus without needing to search high and low for solutions in each pillar of health. I was on a mission to smash the old ways of the western world that separated the mind and body. It’s made us sick. I was sick and tired of letting it happen.
This is what my body was intuitively telling me back on New Year’s Eve 2019 – Many times, we want the answers right away, but the truth is, it was the journey itself that would hold the wisdom to what I was meant to share in the world. I wouldn’t have come to this understandinghout going through my own frustrating trial-and-error process of figuring out how to feel like myself again.
Trauma is an adaptation and what was learned can be unlearned, what is imbalanced can come back into balance, what is suppressed can express and what is asleep can awaken. Unresolved trauma is a catalyzing agent of evolution, healing, and change. It will make or break you. I give my clients the agency to turn it into the very thing that changes their life for good.
I knew that like myself, people were ready for a system that brought clarity, creativity, intimacy, and freedom into their lives. Freedom & agency from the physical, mental, and spiritual discomfort that comes from a disconnected mind and body. My clients will come to me with symptoms like fatigue, insomnia, bloating, GI discomfort, anxiety, depression, skin issues, tight hips, and issues with weight. They are usually experiencing troubles within their relationships and usually feel like the to-do list is never-ending.
I knew they were in dire need of my 3D Approach to Total Body Wellness. A multidimensional approach to our health, that allows for unity within the mind & body. Creating the highest expression of health physically, mentally, and emotionally.
I share this raw and vulnerable story with you in hopes that you can see how powerful it truly is to walk straight into your pain – the wisdom it holds – and how I our greatest wounds are really our greatest gifts. I stand here today, grateful for my wounds because without them I wouldn’t be here to hold space for every beautiful soul that walks into my world. Without my wounds, life would be a lot less colorful.
When you are disconnected from your internal experience for too long you struggle with purpose, decision-making, choices, self-worth, and relationships. You lose your compass and agency. When you’ve lived disconnected from your sensing and instinctual body, navigating, and regulating emotions becomes problematic. You begin to experience physical symptoms within your body & even experience chronic health problems. You rely mostly on your thinking mind which gradually overwhelms, even more, the nervous system. If you want your body to open, you need to upgrade the quality of your relationship with your body, address your nutrition, and understand the programming of your mind.
As a Trauma Informed CTNC Mind & Body Specialist who once led a life full of shame, pain, and addiction, I am an example of what’s possible when you decide to stop looking for answers outside in the external world and reconnect with the internal wisdom that lies within your being. My story of trauma to transformation is the very reason I established Lauren Jewel LLC. A prestigious transformational coaching company that works with clients through a multidimensional approach to total body wellness.
My mission in life is to guide others to go inward to seek the source of their suffering in their shadows & guide them in transforming that suffering into creativity & freedom through my 3D Approach.
I’m here to remind you of this & guide you back home through a 3D approach.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
When I first began my entrepreneurship journey, I was what they call “ignorance on fire”. I had no idea what I was doing, and I went all in like my life depended on it. Then it happened, I hit resistance, self-sabotage showed its face, and every limiting belief that I had acquired over the years decided that NOW was the time to show up.
The ignorance that seemed to have led me to an extreme case of burnout turned out to be a blessing in disguise. The discomfort I had felt inspired me to pull down my walls and admit that I couldn’t do this all by myself. I needed help and I needed an environment where I could grow, heal, and expand. This led me to finding mentors, books, research, and finally going back to school.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Being transparent and storytelling helped me build my reputation within my online market. Due to my past I made a point to come clean about my not so perfect lifestyle before I got sober. I knew I would impact more lives if I was raw and real. I was sick and tired of the picture-perfect lives I saw daily on social media and wanted to bring a breath of fresh air through my honesty. It was affecting my mental health which means it was affecting other people’s mental health. That’s when I decided to just authentically share it all. Layer by layer, the deeper the work I did the easier it became to show up as my highest expression. Being able to share my journey through entrepreneurship, healing my mind-body, and openly sharing about my recovery process was healing in itself. It created intimacy between my ideal client and myself because they began to feel as if they knew me. They saw themselves in my shoes which gave them permission to see that it’s possible for them, also!
My ability to laugh at myself and be humble creates connection and compassion with my market. The truth is – I may be a great coach but no one said I was put here on earth to be a grammar teacher. Little things like this – allow my market to see beyond pretty pictures and branding. They see I am human.
I send personalized birthday voice notes to every single one of my social media friends. Service before growth. I don’t just say “happy birthday”. I’ll always express how they make me feel, a memory I have of them, or what I SEE in them to brighten up their day. That in itself makes anyone feel good, including me. If my business were to end today I would still continue the birthday voice-note tradition because of how well people feel afterward. As humans, we crave to be seen, heard, and loved. I am able to touch someone I don’t even know on a soul level by simply taking a few minutes a day to wish them a happy birthday. This tradition also allows me to build a relationship with my market without selling them anything.
Once they come into my world as a client I make sure to give them outstanding service. I strive to go above and beyond. Automated systems using my Practice Better HIPPA complient CRM system and always prioritizing my nervous system health, in order to stay detached and grounded. When I am regulated, I am able to serve my clients, not get emotionally pulled in or drained from the deeper topics I work on within my 1:1 or group containers.
One of my non-negotiables is making sure every new 1:1 or group client gets a gift from me. It’s something I learned from my mentor. The day I received the gift from my mentor was the day I knew I was going to begin to incorporate this tradition within my business because of the way it made me feel. It put a smile on my face and it really made me feel like she cared. I still use the coffee mug, and notebook. I am currently looking a the sticker that came with the gift. It’s a sticker that says “What would SHE do?” and every single day I ask myself “What would the woman in my vision do”. The woman in my vision is who led me here so it’s safe to say – it’s an simple yet effective reminder that keeps my vision and mentor always in the back of my mind
Last but not least. I’m an embodied coach, mentor, teacher, and guide. I do not share anything I have not personally experienced, learned, or tried myself. The truth is you can tell the difference between a good coach and a great coach and the difference is the great coach lives and breaths what they bring into this world. The good coach understands it on an intellectual level but may not personally embody or live it. Because I incorporate the mind and body I am able to provide my clients with TRUE TRANSFORMATION. Sure, we can learn and understand something but to cellularly know and embody something is on another level.
My vision is to show up as my highest self and if someone may not like it – so be it. I am not here to be your friend, I am here to help you transform your life. What other people think of me is absolutely none of my business. I know my worth is my birthright and that’s all that matters. My hope is that someone will read this and reminder that their worth is not attached to their business. You are so much more than that. Your purpose and mission go way beyond your brand. The impact you make is great but make sure you don’t lose yourself in the process. Remember to live a little and have some fun.
