Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Holub. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lauren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
Success can be different for everyone! For me it was being able to sustain my business without having to have another job. I love being able to cheer on other photographers and learn from them. In turn it helped my business to grow while also being able to support my peers in the industry.
Lauren, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Lauren. I started full time photography in 2016 when I left my corporate job to stay home with my kiddos. I’ve always been passionate about photography even since high school. I currently specialize in lifestyle photography, branding, families, babies and kids. I like to capture moments that will last a lifetime. My style is true to color without any heavy filters or styling so that when you look back 50 years from now, it will still be timeless. I love efficiency in my work. Once I get the shot, we move on and get another look! I don’t spend forever setting up shots or waiting around and chatting. Time is valuable and I know most of my clients are very busy too! Also, I’ve found that children (especially young children), start to melt around the 30 minute mark.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I absolutely loved watching Creative Live. They are live classes that you can watch for FREE when they are being held, and then purchased if not being broadcasted live at a later time. These classes were sooo great when learning all about lighting, posing, and just the business side of photography.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
I’m a big proponent of not spending more than you need. Everything I made at the beginning or start of my business was put back into the business so I could build up capital and eventually making profit. Don’t over spend!!! Make due with what you have and then build from there.
