Alright, Lauren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
What I hope my legacy will be? I hope my legacy will be passed down for generations to come in my family. I want my children’s grand children to be able to still have a harvest from the seeds i’ve planted and to still be able to have the resources and knowledge to create more! I am creating a brand that I believe is bigger than me! I feel that me creating, Silky Radiance- All Natural Skin Care line is just the beginning of what’s to come. I know that other ventures will birth because of, Silky Radiance. In some ways to come in the near future! I know this brand will be for a lifetime and will be a household brand. A brand that I created and will be able to break down barriers and to create generational wealth for my family! That’s all I could ever hope for!
I want to be remembered as a Humanitarian, someone that loves her culture and strives to be a leader in the community! Also, to be remembered as a Black Woman from Raleigh, NC that wasn’t afraid to go after everything that she wanted out of life! And was willing to risk it all for a dream she could only see! I want to be remembered as a woman who didn’t give up even when all of the odds were up against her! Mind over MATTER!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Silky Radiance All Natural Skin Care was established in Raleigh, NC May of 2016. My main goal prior to officially launching Silky Radiance to the public was to be healthier and to incorporate Natural products, foods and services into my lifestyle. I started the brand in my mom’s kitchen in 2015 and just wanted to have products for me to provide for my family and I. I decided to get my feet wet and try luck at my first event April 2016 which was actually at my mom’s job in Raleigh, NC. They were having a Spring Bazaar so I wanted to attend to see if I would be able to have the confidence to do this! That event gave me all the hope and confidence I needed to launch my business to the public the following month! I started out with two Body Moisturizers (Apple Luxury & Lavender Romance), two Body Scrubs (Leave’em Speachless & Chocolate Seduction) as well as a Foot Scrub (Minty Pleasure). Now I have over 20 products to choose from with more to come! The products that are offered and which are all Natural, Non Toxic and Cruelty Free are: Body Moisturizers, Body Scrubs, Foot Scrubs, Bath Salts, Lip Scrubs, Facial Care, Massage Oils, Foam Dispensing Hand Soaps, Carpet Fresheners- Deodorizers, Nut Free Products and Men’s Products. Silky Radiance solves many problems for my clients such as: Severe Dryness, Irritations, Rashes, Ingrown Hairs, Razor Bumps, Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea, Dark Spots, Blemishes, Uneven Skin Tone, Hyper pigmentation, Rough- Patchy skin, Cleansing, Detoxing, etc. I am proud of how my products that I formulated have worked for so many of my clients and the reviews or testimonies have been so surreal because I am truly passionate about my brand and providing excellent customer service and quality products! I can foresee all of the wonderful things transpiring within the near future for, Silky Radiance! Please stay tuned! Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele would be word of mouth I have to say! Me coming from the Customer Service Industry… That’s all I know how to provide amazing customer service! I live knowing that if I am faced with a new customer I always think in my head this person will leave here with their experience and tell THREE other people. So, I always make sure I go above and beyond for my customers especially if its a new face! Another effective strategy for growing clientele is going to events or pop ups! Farmer’s Markets on the weekends have become my lifestyle I love being there with all of the other entrepreneurs out there doing the exact same thing i’m doing which they become family! It definitely helps getting your community to see what is offered within their area! I don’t mind travelling in the DFW area! I may be in Richardson, Arlington, Mansfield, Euless, Carrollton (which is my favorite location by the way), Dallas, Flower Mound, etc. I do not discriminate! As long as I have a platform to reach new potential clients that’s where I’ll be and be happy doing it! I don’t complain! I am so happy to be able to do what I love and to have clients track you down to come and find you wherever you are to express their gratitude for finding such amazing products means the world to me! I’ve even had clients tell me that I better not go ANYWHERE because Silky Radiance is all they use!! Words cannot describe how much that means to me!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped build my reputation within my market is because my products have unique names, scents that you can’t find ANYWHERE on the market as well as just being authentic with my brand I am also very professional and personable which makes a HUGE impact on your business or brand! YOU sell your products before your product ever will. I focus on my brand gauge what works and what doesn’t work! I get feedback daily and I am also teachable and surround myself with business owners to brush up on new skills or materials to help me further into my career! Self Improvement is definitely reputable! It shows in EVERYTHING you do! I know this because I have what I call, “OG’s” (Experienced- Seasoned) Business Owners that has far more experience than me being an entrepreneur come to me and say how they commend all of my hard work and that my dedication shows! That speaks VOLUMES… Some times I don’t think I am doing enough and then I realize that I am doing what needs to be done and what I do is NOT easy whatsoever! I remind myself daily of how far I’ve come in a short amount of time here in TX. I just celebrated 3 years of living here in TX the 10th of February! So, it means a lot to know that my hard work is not going unnoticed! Keep striving and stay focused on the bigger goal! My team will come, more products and services will come soon!!
