We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Harris a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. Did you always know you wanted to pursue a creative or artistic career? When did you first know?
I first knew I liked doing this when I started just dabbling in making artwork digitally through Adobe Photoshop as a teenager. I would play around with making things for fun and then the older I got I started realizing this may be my calling. I took a long break for quite a few years when I didn’t have the program anymore. I then got back at it in 2017 and started slowly again. I am a self taught artist and learned a lot of things on my own. My most favorite designs to make are album covers for bands. I feel I can get to be the most creative with them and bring my clients ideas to life they had along with my own new ideas to inspire them. In 2017 was when I realized I wanted to pursue this as a job. It was a hobby at first than turned into something professionally later on. I do not regret that choice one bit. Throughout the years since then I have gained many interesting clients from all over and never a dull moment.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I first got into this job when I was experimenting around with Adobe photoshop. I love making all kinds of designs in the digital way such as logos, posters, album covers, shirts, and more. I specialize the most in band genre of any kind of music. I do at times do other designs rather it be a book cover or even animal artwork of someone’s pet. I am a huge animal lover as well especially cats. Some of my most proud designs would be the album covers I made for various bands and even my fan art I made of Whitesnake which was one of my first pieces. I aim to make all my work different from one another by staying unique and making each design original.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started it with a select few clients in the very beginning. I then decided to create a business page on Facebook. Since I have created a business page I have many new followers every year and I get referrals from previous clients. Facebook is a great tool for networking along with other social media platforms.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
By making other’s visions or ideas come to life with providing the best art possible and meeting new interesting creative people like myself.
