We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauren Griffin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauren below.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I grew up in a home where yelling was the primary language, and the only ways to deal with conflict were to have a shouting match or completely ignore one another. After having my last child, I began to notice things about how I was parenting that were reminiscent of my childhood, and I didn’t like it. I started a parent coaching program in 2023 after a very challenging two years in my personal and professional life. I have worked in education for over 10 years and interacted with hundreds of parents and children. One of the common threads I began noticing is that many parents are frustrated and angry, and in many cases, they take it out on their children, right at school. I learned that this is not because they are just angry for no reason, but many parents today are overworked, underpaid, and completely burned out in life, which makes it hard to give their best to their children. This creates disconnection cycles in the relationship that many of us do not know how to repair. My goal and mission are to help parents heal generational cycles of trauma and disconnection to have healthier relationships with not only our children but also ourselves and others in our lives.
Lauren, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I am an educator and parent coach who works with parents to heal emotional wounds in order to parent with more connection, compassion, and confidence. I provide coaching, education, and community to empower parents to break generational patterns and create homes rooted in love, trust, and healing. This is a deeply personal journey for me, and I am proud to help others along the way.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
One of the most important lessons I have had to unlearn is that I need to know everything before I start. Building a business is a faith walk, and while there is a need for knowledge and research, I cannot spend all of my time on those things and not put in the work to help the very people I am called to. I have gone through the classes, courses, and certifications. Now is the time to put in the work.
How did you build your audience on social media?
My social media is still a work in progress, but what I am finding is that people are drawn to authenticity. There have been times when I have tried to create content that wasn’t really “me,” and I believe people feel that. I am still trying to find that balance between curated content and reality. Sometimes I don’t post because there are moments that are too sacred to film, but I want to find a way to capture them without losing their authenticity.
