We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lauren Fonvielle a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lauren , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
I went to the mailbox on a sunny Saturday afternoon. I through the mail on the table, and started to sort through it. There was a large manila envelope addressed to the family. I tore it open. My heart began to beat faster and faster as I read the first sentence. “Preparing your family for deployment…”
My first thought was there was a mistake, a simple misunderstanding. My husband was in the Navy Reserves now. He wasn’t active duty, surely they weren’t going to deploy him. I quickly called my husband who was out getting a haircut, relayed what the letter said, and he quickly responded with, “I’ll be right home.”
Within a few hours we found out he was in fact going on a deployment, and it was scheduled for 13 months. Fear and anxiety washed over my body. While this wouldn’t be our first deployment, it was our first deployment since having children. We had just moved to a new state where we knew no one and our closest family members were 4 hours away.
In the weeks that followed I started to experience panic attacks. Everything felt out of control.
I didn’t know it at the time, but these panic attacks were what changed the trajectory of my career. I had worked in corporate marketing for 15+ years, and had recently started a marketing copywriting business working with small business owners.
As the panic attacks became more frequent, I realized I needed to figure out how to get this under control so that I could show up as the mom that my kids needed and deserved. This was the start of what I now refer to as my journey of self-discovery.
I found myself in a yoga class, saw a flyer about yoga teacher training and immediately signed up. My intuition was the loudest it had ever been that day, so loud I couldn’t ignore it. I am eternally grateful that I listened to that voice. It was the best decision I could have made. It opened the door to being introduced to a variety of healing modalities. I went on to study reiki, sound healing, meditation, and EFT Tapping.
These tools helped me through some of my darkest days. My husband’s deployment got extended, and ultimately we ended up living apart for 22 months. Over those 2 years I learned how strong I really was. I learned that I had the ability to heal myself from the inside out, and I began to share what I learned with some of my friends, as well as some of my marketing clients.
My business started to shift organically, as I found myself spending more time talking with clients about mindset, limiting beliefs, and anxiety that was holding them back in their life and business!
Now, looking back, I am so incredibly grateful for the experience. As hard and challenging as it was at times, it has shaped me into who I am today. I am truly honored to be able to help entrepreneurs reduce stress and anxiety, and increase their profits!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I work with entrepreneurs, offering customized packages to hone in on their struggle (anxiety, fear, limiting belief, negative mindset) and get to the root of where these thoughts and beliefs began, so that they can be released for good!
As humans, all of our experiences in life have emotions attached to them. When the emotions are uncomfortable emotions like anger, frustration, overwhelm, fear, sadness etc, we often suppress these emotions, distract ourselves with something else, and continue on our merry way. And while the distraction may work for the short term, I think we all know that in the long term these emotions continue to build up to a point until they explode. That explosion can look different for different people. Maybe it is lashing out at a colleague or family member who doesn’t deserve it, or maybe all that stress and anxiety starts to manifest itself physically in your body and you are now dealing with physical pain.
Fear, anxiety and stress can be paralyzing. When you feel stuck, you don’t take aligned action, and when you aren’t taking action you obviously aren’t going to get where you want to go!
I work with my clients to help them peel back the layers, tap into their inner strength, listen to their intuition and create real lasting change in their life and business! It’s all about recognizing how our thoughts create feelings, our feelings create actions, and our actions create RESULTS!
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think that by openly and honestly sharing my story and struggles, people began to trust me. It is always my intention to keep it real with my audience. Life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. These healing tools are not a magic pill. Different tools work for different people. I am always encouraging people to explore different healing modalities (whether that be with me or any other practitioner!) and to take what resonates with them and leave the rest!
I also am consistent with my marketing. I send out weekly emails, offer monthly group calls, and free consultations. My audience knows I’m not going anywhere, and they know where to find me! Customer service is everything! A lot of my clients are referrals, and I don’t think there is any better compliment than that!
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I have had to do a lot of work on my money mindset. I’ve had to unlearn beliefs like: “It’s hard to make money.”
“I am not good with money.”
“I have to hold my money close.”
“I can’t love my work and make a lot of money.”
Typically, your money mindset comes from your parents and their relationship with money. As children we don’t know any better and take their beliefs on as our own. Exploring and understanding where these beliefs started, and knowing that they weren’t serving me was motivation in and of itself to figure out how to release these beliefs. It was a really eye-opening experience to think about how my story with money came to be. Remembering the first time I felt like I didn’t have enough, or when I decided I was bad at math therefore not good with money. There were memories that surfaced that I hadn’t thought of in 30+ years! It is unbelievable what we hold on to subconsciously! I’m so grateful to now have the tools and know-how to not let old beliefs impact my present or future any longer!
