We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lauren Fisher. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lauren below.
Hi Lauren, thanks for joining us today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I already have a full-time career but I am also a full-time content creator. Over the last 2 years, I have been able to earn a full-time income from it. I started blogging in 2016 but didn’t start content creating until 2020 while I was home alone in Chicago during the lockdown. Once I saw that it was moving in a good direction, I decided to take my content creation career more seriously. I got a agency, I plan out content, I work with several photographer, I pitch brands and more. Day one, I just started posting content and reviews and being more consistent.

Lauren, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a traveling fashionista currently based in Atlanta, GA. I am a Consultant Manager at Ernst & Young and I am also a Content Creator. I got into consulting several years ago and love it! I was traveling every week up until Covid-19 hit. This summer, I’ve been back and forth to Europe working. I work in Change Management and Learning. I got into content creation during the lockdown. My background is in Supply Chain Management and Marketing. Outside of Consulting and Content Creation, I love hosting family and friends, cooking, styling clothes, making charcuterie boards, traveling and playing with my puppy Gumbo!
Right now, I’m most proud of getting promoted at work recently!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
Just being me really. People follow you because they can relate to you, you’re funny or you solve a problem they have. I’m a little bit all of that. It’s more than posting pretty pictures and drake or Beyoncé lyrics as captions (even though that works for a few). Be authentically you and the following will come.
Don’t be afraid to try trends and don’t let the “algorithm” defeat you! Keep posting that content!
Also, Don’t worry about numbers. Some people blow up and some don’t. I know people with 100,000 followers and don’t have no brand deals or not making no money. I made over 6 figures in brand deals and I have less than 20,000 followers.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
Society as a whole can support creatives! Follow us, engage, PAY us! Spread our message and creativeness! Society (businesses) can also create more funding and opportunities for creatives too!
