We recently connected with Lauren Dove and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Lauren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea

There are two types of people: those that talk the talk and those that walk the walk.

I started from the bottom, just like everyone else. It wasn’t easy, it was hard work. It was a lot of early mornings and long nights. I went to school earned my Cosmetology license, started in a salon making 50% commission. I then started booth renting in a salon and now I run a salon myself!

I had to do a little bit of research to launch Lauren’s Beauty Bar but with a little help from my tribe, we opened in July 2016.

There are lots of resources you can utilize running a small business. Did you know, when you apply to register your business some colleges will offer small business owners free educational classes?

I believe that everything starts with a positive mindset. You have to believe it before it ever comes to fruition. Have achievable goals and write them down.
Stay consistent and in your vision!

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

After many years in the Pageant/Entertainment Industry, I developed a passion for working backstage with Hair and Make up.

Since graduating Cosmetology school in 2012, I continued to work within the Beauty Industry with several Pageant contestants who have placed and Won Awards.

I trained in color through Wella educators.
I have also studied with Celebrity Stylist, Vidal Sassoon London/America and Sojourn director of education Melissa Stone. I’ve had the privilege of also working with TLC’s “What Not To Wear’s” Celebrity Stylist Nick Arrojo in 2014.

One of my favorite highlights of my career so far has been working with Coca-Cola on set in 2017.

Since being in the entertainment scene, I decided to open up a beauty bar “Lauren’s Beauty Bar”🧜🏻‍♀️…..offering…

Fun fact: In 2021 we were published in Crown’s Magazine & The Southern Bride Magazine for our wedding hair & make up styling!

My FAVORITE thing right now would have to be Weddings, Proms or Special Events. It’s so FUN to be a part of such a special day in someone’s life that they will cherish forever. 💕

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

In 2020, I launched Lauren’s Beauty Bar Shop on Etsy. You can also find it at our Beauty Bar. It is our All-Natural Skincare, Hair Care, & Cosmetic line!

I honestly was so frustrated with all the awful ingredients in everything. I wanted to start offering my clients something that would help and was healthy for them too.

So I started playing around in my kitchen with different ingredients, herbs from my garden, and the shop bloomed!

I love to use local vendors around I’ll go to the local Farmer’s market for clean ingredients to support my community.. it is a win win!

I have learned that if you fail, that means you’re succeeding. You’re headed in the right direction, just don’t give up!

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that everyone isn’t going to be supportive and happy for you. They will watch you though.

This was one of the hardest lesson’s I had to grasp, but the show must go on!

Don’t get me wrong it takes a village, just be careful of who you allow in yours!
