Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lauren Bell. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lauren thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
I hope to leave Plane Jane to a like-minded nephew or niece,, but I most want to instill in my customers and family the spirit of curiosity and the thrill of exploring new places. My nephews and niece do not see my social media coverage of my trips, but I try to set aside individual trips to make memories, bond with them, and hope the travel bug will bite them too. For the people that do see my social media coverage, I want to leave a similar legacy. I want them to know that “There’s more to life” is not just a catchphrase to me. It’s a meditation and reminder to live NOW. Do not wait for retirement or for the kids to grow up. Life will literally pass you by, theres no guarantee you will make it to retirement and We are conditioned to just work and contribute to society, there is no preset work/life balance. That truly saddens me, so my mission is to be the change I want to see. Live in the present.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into the travel industry by being obsessed with traveling. I was willing to pay for a certain level of service but I was unable to find it so I became what I was looking for. The best product I provide a peace of mind. My customers directly benefit from my travel experience and they deal with me directly. I treat every inquiry like I’m planning my own trip while considering each individual’s needs. Anyone can become a travel agent but what sets me apart from others is my customer service. The service doesn’t stop after the trip is booked, utilizing my services is a curated experience. Being an entrepreneur has its challenges but I’m dedicated to inspiring the masses.
Any advice for managing a team?
Disagree. You do yourself a disservice by surrounding yourself with yes people. Sometimes you have to pull a card and let your card be pulled and that’s what makes a great team. Trust is the core of any successful team. I also build morale by traveling with my team.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
The excellent experience my customers have the first time they utilize my services, is usually enough to make them come back. I maintain my customers by being consistent with promoting my values and services.
