Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Laurel Booth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Laurel , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
I jumped straight into critical care nursing after graduating from college with a Bachelors Degree in nursing. I was 22. As a brand new nurse I was still in the technical phase: learning how to assess patients and how to manage my time effectively. By modeling myself after more seasoned staff, I learned to always respect and afford each patient dignity. I made sure I would acknowledge each patient by saying, “Good Morning” although they were sedated with a breathing tube. I would pull the blankets up over their shoulders so their body is not exposed. I would clean their mouth and comb their hair, so they are presentable to the world. My mantra became and still is, “Do unto others” as I would like done to myself. This is the ideology that has carried me through my nurse anesthesiology education, 14 years of practice as well as my aesthetic medicine practice as a nurse practitioner.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a certified registered nurse anesthesiologist and nurse practitioner with over 15 years of experience providing healthcare to individuals of all ages and health.
In 2019, I furthered my education by obtaining a doctorate in nursing focusing on burnout within the advanced practice nursing community. During my research, I recognized that I was burnt out as well and needed to make change.
In 2023, I founded, Mrs. Webb Aesthetic, a business that provides medical aesthetic (cosmetic) services including anti-aging treatments such as dermal filler and neuromodulator therapy. I found aesthetics to be the perfect field to combine my love for artistry, innovation, and symmetry while simultaneously drawing on the technical savvy and anatomical knowledge I have honed as an anesthesia provider.
My purpose is to advocate for your health and well-being. I wants you to achieve your goals safely and wants to ensure that you are received in the way you envisage. I wants to meet you where you are; mentally and emotionally.
My mission at Mrs. Webb Aesthetic, is to improve access and knowledge of aesthetic ideology as well as enhance the client experience within the culturally and ethnically diverse community we serve.

Putting training and knowledge aside, what else do you think really matters in terms of succeeding in your field?
1.Not taking things personally
2.The ability to multitask in a chaotic environment
3.Taking responsibility for your actions

If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Absolutely. I cannot imagine NOT being a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist. have no regrets regarding the decisions I have made. In order for me to be as skilled as I am, I need that history in the operating room. I need that time placing epidurals on the labor and delivery unit or that time in the ICU, holding a patients hand at the moment their heart stops. Every moment of my life prepared me for the next.
