We recently connected with Laura Wilkerson and have shared our conversation below.

Laura, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

I think that success can be perceived in many different ways. Everyone will have their own definition of what that is. I believe success is having the courage to be yourself and do what feels right for you regardless of what everyone else is doing. Today it’s so easy to fall into that comparison trap. With reels, tik toks, and posts galore how can you not glance and gage what others are doing.

Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

When I started LUNA Massage and Wellness, I just wanted to create a safe space for our community where you can come and leave the outside world at the door. This is a place where all kinds of healing can take place.

We offer a multitude of services.

Massage Therapy/Body Work: deep tissue, therapeutic, prenatal, swedish, cupping, grastons, and aromatherapy

Reiki energy work:
Focusing on chakra balancing, with the use of sound bowls, crystals, oracle cards, and palo santo.

Soon to come: Life coaching!
Specially Body empowerment and confidence coaching.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?

The very first lesson of many I had to unlearn as a business owner , was my own self doubt. I will be the first to say that it was never my dream to own my own business. In fact I may have been one of the only in my graduating class that did not! At that point in life I would say that decision was led more by self doubt, mixed with an endless loop of a scarcity mindset, sprinkled with some “over analysis paralysis”. It was easy to shut down the idea at the time because that journey was unknown to me.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

The resilience was me getting out of my own way! Wandering out into the unknown takes courage, vulnerability, and gumption. There is not one business owner I know today that will not agree with that. If you have a passion for something and you start to feel that “pull” to do something, follow it!  When i first started i really did not have some huge 5 year plan or anything like that, it was very feeling based but i decided to take a chance on myself. I got out of my own way in 2017 when I began LUNA and its been my best decision yet. Today 5 years later, LUNA is a thriving business that is continually growing, expanding and diversifying. I have a wonderful staff complete with some pretty phenomenal clients!
