We were lucky to catch up with Laura Walters recently and have shared our conversation below.
Laura, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Style Riot was born from a deep passion for personal style and the transformative power it holds. My mission has always been clear: to guide clients on a journey of discovering their unique style, building confidence, and embracing authenticity.
I believe that understanding what works for your silhouette, the colors that enhance your skin tone, and the pieces that align with your lifestyle can truly change your life. When you know your style, shopping becomes less overwhelming, getting dressed feels effortless, and your wardrobe becomes a source of joy and empowerment.
At Style Riot, it’s not just about helping—it’s about being a guide. Together, we develop your style story, encourage authenticity, and bring intention, support, and fun into the process. Fashion should be enjoyable, not intimidating, and I aim to make it an inspiring and educational experience for every client.
This luxury styling business is an investment—an investment in yourself, your confidence, and your self-expression. Through thoughtful guidance, I build clients wardrobes one intentional piece at a time, helping them to feel powerful, confident, and true to themselves in every outfit.
Style Riot is about more than clothes; it’s about finding joy and transformation in the way you present yourself to the world.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
About Me
Fashion has always been my passion and a true representation of who I am. I love people, and I love the art of self expression through style—two of my favorite things built into one fabulous, hard-working career. Style Riot is not just my business; it’s my dream come to life.
Why I Do What I Do
I created Style Riot to help individuals discover and embrace their unique personal style through thoughtful support, expert guidance, and meaningful collaboration. Working closely with my clients to create wardrobes that inspire confidence and reflect their best selves is at the heart of everything I do. Whether it’s building or refining a wardrobe, styling for events, planning travel looks, or curating outfits for public appearances, my focus is always on delivering elevated, authentic style and positive results—and that is exactly why I do what I do!
As a tastemaker, I stay on top of trends, offer unique options, and ensure every client’s personal style shines. Each client is different, and my mission is to curate tailored looks that fit their individuality.
What I offer
Style Riot services include closet purging, personal shopping, retainer packages, and an annual style maintenance subscription. I shop for my clients directly and also create curated shopping lists—whether for specific items or a complete seasonal inventory—making the process effortless and tailored to your needs.
Through partnerships with local and online retailers, I create luxury experiences with personalized perks, ensuring shopping is seamless, enjoyable, and uniquely customized for every client.
At Style Riot, we work as a team to achieve the ultimate in elevated style—one outfit, one wardrobe, one client at a time.

Have you ever had to pivot?
Like many, I chose the “responsible” path after college—a 9-to-5 marketing job that I thought would check all the right boxes. But it didn’t take long to realize it wasn’t fueling me or sparking any kind of passion. While I loved fashion, I always kept it on the sidelines, convincing myself it could never be a real career.
That mindset eventually shifted when my unhappiness reached a breaking point. I knew I needed to make a change. Deciding to pursue Style Riot full-time was both terrifying and freeing—it was a leap into the unknown, but one that completely transformed my life.
Looking back, I wish I’d made the pivot sooner, but everything happens for a reason. That moment of clarity taught me that pursuing what truly lights you up is worth every risk. Now, I get to live my passion every day—and I couldn’t be happier!

Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Looking back, I wish I had been more vocal about what truly drove me when I was younger. But, in fairness, I didn’t fully know myself yet. High school was a time of figuring things out, and I struggled with a learning disability, which made the academic side of school challenging (though I loved the social aspect!). My focus then was just on getting through, not necessarily on exploring what fueled my passion.
In hindsight, had I been more open with my counselors, teachers, and family about my love for fashion and creativity, I might have been encouraged to take a different path—one that included fashion school or internships in the industry. At the time, I didn’t even consider those options as realistic possibilities for me.
If I’d been more focused, honest with myself, and vocal about my aspirations, I might have taken a different path much earlier in life. Still, I’ve learned that every step of the journey, even the detours, has shaped who I am and brought me to where I’m meant to be. It’s a reminder that it’s never too late to pursue your passion.
