We recently connected with Laura Malva and have shared our conversation below.
Laura, appreciate you joining us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
At the end of the day, success isn’t about having the best idea—it’s about having the guts to go all in, the resilience to take the hits, and the confidence to bet on yourself even when no one else does. So, if you’re waiting for permission to chase your dream, you’re doing it all wrong. Go out there and take it.
Laura, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Sip Mobile Bar Co. is a high-end beverage service company that’s all about redefining the art of event planning. My journey in the world of entrepreneurship is driven by my passion for creating unforgettable experiences.
Growing up in the dynamic atmosphere of my parents’ successful bar and restaurant businesses, I gained a deep understanding of the importance of ambiance, hospitality, and the artistry behind crafting exceptional experiences. The bustling energy of those establishments became the backdrop for my formative years, instilling in me a love for the intricacies of cocktails and the hospitality sector.
With a wealth of hands-on experience from my parents and a burning desire to forge my own path, I envisioned a unique venture that would bring sophistication and style to events of all kinds. Enter Sip Mobile Bar Co.—a concept that seamlessly combines luxury, mobility, and expertly crafted libations.
Sip Mobile Bar Co. is more than a business; it’s my canvas for artistic expression and a platform for creating unforgettable memories. Each event I curate reflects my attention to detail and a genuine passion for elevating the ordinary to the extraordinary. Every cocktail becomes a work of art, and every event becomes a masterpiece. My story is not just about building a business; it’s a narrative of turning passion into a livelihood and creating a legacy that elevates every sip.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Its as simple as doing the job you were hired to do and doing it well. When guests experience exceptional service, unique cocktails, and seamless execution at one of our events, they remember it—and more importantly, they talk about it. Word-of-mouth referrals are invaluable in the event industry, as people trust recommendations from friends and family far more than traditional advertising. A strong first impression can turn a one-time event into a ripple effect of future bookings, as satisfied clients and their guests become your biggest advocates. This is exactly how I have built my clientele—through genuine connections and going the extra mile at every event. Many of my clients have become not just repeat customers but loyal supporters. In my business, where personalized service and attention to detail set me apart, ensuring every event is executed flawlessly reinforces my brand’s reputation and builds trust with my audience. Consistently delivering top-tier experiences isn’t just about customer satisfaction—it’s a long-term strategy that fuels growth, credibility, and lasting relationships.
Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
Podcasts are one of the most valuable and underrated free resources available today, and everyone should be taking advantage of them. Whether you’re looking for business insights, personal development, or industry-specific knowledge, there’s a podcast out there that can help you grow—all without costing a dime.
Two of my favorites are The Business Savage Podcast with Cassandra Britton and Build with Leila Hormozi. The Business Savage Podcast is all about entrepreneurship, mindset, and scaling a business with confidence. Cassandra Britton shares real, actionable advice for business owners looking to take their brands to the next level. Then there’s Build with Leila Hormozi, which is packed with insights on leadership, operations, and scaling businesses efficiently. Leila has a no-nonsense approach to business growth (which i’m all about!), and her experience in scaling multi-million dollar companies makes her advice incredibly valuable.
If you’re not already listening to podcasts, you’re missing out on free mentorship from some of the best minds in business. It’s one of the easiest ways to gain new perspectives and strategies that can help you grow, both personally and professionally. Anytime i’m in the car you can bet I have one of these podcasts playing.
