Hi Laura, thanks for joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
Our new single “The Answer” comes out tonight at midnight. It has been the most meaningful project we have worked on and accomplished so far. The song started in my G Pa’s apartment in 2009. After quiting my job one October morning I began the next chapter of my life as a song writer. The song is loosley based on one of my favorite books “Fear and Loathing in las Vegas,” in a way, this is our “savage journey to the heart of the American dream. While simultaneously firing on tenth drummer before a show one night, we have continued to be persistant. I decided to get behind the kit and bang out the drum parts on this record myself. I am also a drummer, always have been. This song encompasses everything we love about summer, taking you on a wild ride to find what you are looking for. Enjoy.
Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are Closer to the Ocean, a three piece alternative rock band from Pompano Beach, Fl formed in 2009 including Laura Lattig (vocals) Abby Todd (bass) and Ali Nassar (Drums). We have played hundreds of shows and festivals over the years and have just released our second single “The Answer.”
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
We have been driven by many factors through out the years but our number one driving force has been “Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Great book!
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
