We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura “Lala” Garay a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Laura “Lala”, appreciate you joining us today. So, one thing many business owners consider is donating a percentage of revenue or profits to an organization or cause. We’d love to hear your thoughts and the story behind how and why you chose the cause or organization you donate to.
I give 10% back to the church because I believe in the principle of Mathew 6:33 and when you give your tithes your business is solid and blessed
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was raised by a single mom of 4 and started working at the age of 14. It is engraved in my brain to be professional, deliver on time and get it done efficiently. I am a creative that thrives in operations and I love to help others get organized so I took my 20 years of experience and turned it into a business. What sets me apart from other brands is that we practice what we preach. I think the main part my potential clients should know is that I understand their goals, I understand the economy we are in and I understand the job needs to get done. Being an a la carte Virtual Executive Assistant is the most efficient service for a company that wants the work professionally to be done and save on costs.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn to not limit my clientele base on the need of my business. I wanted to focus on creative businesses in the beginning but then I realized the small tool shop needs help too.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
Previously I had an event production company that turned into a talent agency and although I still have it I don’t market it as often due to the change in market.
