Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Laura Knopp. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Laura thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What sort of legacy are you hoping to build. What do you think people will say about you after you are gone, what do you hope to be remembered for?
I aspire for my legacy to resonate with empowerment, inspiring women worldwide to unlock their full potential and confidently embrace their authenticity. My aim is to foster experiences where women discover their inner strength, beauty, and magic. Through my art, I hope to facilitate healing and guide women towards their true path, enabling them to lead lives filled with passion and purpose.
Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
As an intuitive mixed media artist, I delve into the realms of self-love, personal growth, and divine femininity through my compelling artwork. I beckon women to embrace their inherent authenticity and rise beyond societal confines.
I specialize in crafting custom goddess portraits, masterfully capturing the beauty and inner strength of each woman, weaving their unique life journeys into vibrant canvases of empowerment.
Beyond creating beautiful goddess art, I create healing experiences that foster self-discovery and personal growth for the women I work with.
My journey to become an artist who celebrates women is one I’ve been charting since I was a child growing up in South Florida, raised by my abuela. My earliest medium was a crayon, and among my fondest memories is drawing on construction paper alongside my mom, who is also an artist. I’ve always been quiet but observant, creating from what I see and feel.
The idea for my goddess portraits took shape during the pandemic, inspired by women all around me—women who were working while raising children, women who were surviving and even thriving amid the upheaval.
My spiritual essence shines through my art, where symbolism from earthly and ethereal realms intertwine.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I’ve always been a sensitive person.
For years, I grappled with the misconception that to lead effectively, I had to steel myself like a warrior.
I used to lament my sensitivity, wishing I could morph into a more resilient figure like Xena Warrior Princess.
But with time, I’ve shed that limiting belief. Instead, I’ve embraced my sensitivity as a remarkable asset.
It’s through this lens that I perceive the world’s rich tapestry, noticing its delicate details and hidden wonders.
In essence, my sensitivity isn’t a weakness but a strength — a force that fuels my intuition and fuels my creativity.
I realized that it’s not about toughening up; it’s about tapping into the profound power of sensitivity.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
When I first started painting goddess portraits a couple years ago, a lady looked at my art, laughed, and said “how cute!”.
It was condescending and dismissive.
The kind of reaction I’ve gotten many times as an artist with a very feminine aesthetic.
Despite facing skepticism and belittlement, I refused to let the laughter deter me. Each chuckle, each dismissive comment only fueled my determination.
My goddess art is far more than just “cute.” It is a reflection of the intricacies of femininity, a celebration of empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence.
With each stroke of my brush, I embraced the resilience within me, transforming mockery into motivation.
For me, femininity isn’t synonymous with weakness; it is a potent blend of softness and strength, a wellspring of inspiration that empowers me to persevere.
