We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laura Correa. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laura below.
Hi Laura , thanks for joining us today. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
Our brand and our service offerings differ from the usual spa experience in many ways. We offer our services in a boutique, tranquil setting providing the highest quality service. Our service providers are healers and experts at their craft. Our treatments are designed to be carefully curated experiences delivering optimal results for our guests at each visit. Aside from offering professional treatments such as microcurrent and oxygen dome therapy we also incorporate energy healing, crystal healing and even sound therapy into our customized facial treatments to elevate the treatment experience.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I was born in Szeged, Hungary and moved to the states when I was 8 years old. I always loved being around people and helping them feel their best. I aspired to be in the beauty and wellness industry from a young age and ended up working at many beauty counter gigs through high school and college. I moved to Los Angeles to work for MAC cosmetics back in 2003 and also got into working on my own spiritual well being while in LA. Working on myself and doing what I loved helped me realize I’m capable of doing much more with my passions and ideas than just being put in a box with a corporate company. Without any financial support, I took a huge risk, used up my life savings, quit my job and opened up Green Revolution Skin studio in 2012. I have been in business now for over 10 years, still offering the most unique healing facial services in the DMV. I’m currently in the process of growing the business and offering a collective of other holistic wellness services such as massage, acupuncture and more. Stay tuned!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I built a good reputation by prioritizing offering consistent high level customer service and care for my guests, educating myself on new technologies and products and staying relevant with my service offerings. Most importantly, not following the crowd, staying true to my mission and doing things my own special way.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
In 2020 I had to close my business completely due to the COVID 19 pandemic. Like many people in my shoes, I was devastated that this might put an end to everything I worked so hard to accomplish. I refused to let that happen. I reached out and connected to my network of other woman owned small businesses and received the inspiration to keep going. I created an online store for products, did lots of instagram live streams to help educate guests about home skin care rituals and routines to keep up their self care at home. I even offered private virtual skincare consultation services. Pivoting the business to online at that time kept me relevant and basically in business. When it was safe enough to offer services again in early 2021, I moved into a larger, gorgeous new space and even grew my team with 3 new estheticians.
