We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Laura Bedoya a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Laura thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Im a Colombian architect that moved to the states in 2012, since then I’ve been working as a full time architect in different forms through NJ and NYC. In 2016 I decided to become a personal trainer and fitness coach as this has always been my passion. Worked in several gyms and developed an online bussiness where I motivate and help people reach their goals all over the world. Only until 2022 I decided to move to Florida in search of warm weather and push my fitness modeling career and it didn’t take long to start getting a lot of opportunities. Moving south has been a real game changer in the dynamic of my career.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
As a fitness coach and a full time architect I want to show and teach people how to manage a find a balance between your fitness journey and a career. A lot of people use their full time jobs as an excuse to not have a healthy lifestyle and the truth is that with discipline, a will and organization you can accomplish anything you set your mind to.
I believe in being an example with my own journey; I was able to completely transform my body, move to a whole different state, take on a new role in a design company, compete in several bodybuilding shows, work as a fitness coach and also as a fitness model. Anything is possible when there’s a will.

Training and knowledge matter of course, but beyond that what do you think matters most in terms of succeeding in your field?
Being discipline! You can have all the knowledge and be a very smart person but if you’re not discipline and Thisbe your goals clear; you won’t be able to successfully use all your potential
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Spud ting myself and my potential, procrastinating and waiting for things to come to me. It took me years to build the confidence and courage to get out here and build my own brand but I’m glad I did.
