We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Laura-Ann Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Laura-Ann below.
Laura-Ann, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
I wish I would have started my career as a nail tech/artist sooner in life. I believe that if I would’ve followed my dreams when I first explored the idea of pursuing a career as a nail artist I could be much further than I currently am.

Laura-Ann, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Just over 5 years ago at the age of 22 I suffered a devastating loss, my mother passed away, to try and keep my head above water while navigating through this new journey of life I took to learning the craft of nail and what it means to be a nail technician. I continued to work my job while switching most of my focus to perfecting my craft and deciding if this was the right path for me and after about 4 months I discussed with my husband the idea of quitting my full time job to focus on my passion-nails; and he encouraged my choice! I have grown my business to the point of not only doing nails but also to making some products that my clients can benefit from greatly- such as cuticle and body oils, body butters and scrubs as well. I also make and sell custom reusable press on nails and toes! I am most proud of the fact that in the last year I have managed to graduate manicuring school with perfect attendance and obtain my manicurist license all while still being a stay at home mother to a toddler- never losing site of my end goal. I take great pride in everything I do, including the experience my customers feel from the moment they reach out to me, down to the follow up out reach after their initial visit. I love knowing that my clients have a welcoming environment and enjoyable experience with me.

How did you build your audience on social media?
Building a social media audience is very important to any business, no matter the size. I believe that my consistency has played a huge part in how my audience has grown- which in so many words means that if you don’t take your time to show the people what it is you have to offer they won’t see the reason to follow you. Your target audience will be there with all changes you make as you learn what your journey is all about, but you have to stay consistent in posting relevant information.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would say the most rewarding aspect of what I do is the excitement I see in my clients when their service is complete. It means the world to me when I see or hear my clients say with great pride who does their nails and how much they always love them and never leave unsatisfied.
