We recently connected with Laura Alpizar and have shared our conversation below.
Laura, appreciate you joining us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
When I first moved to the US and started my photography business, I had a mentor who took me under her wing and allowed me to be fully immersed in the wedding world (Thanks M!), to learn from her craft and the business side of weddings. It’s thanks to that amazing introduction that I was able to get my business moving since being from a different country even taxes and social norms are so different.

Laura, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer who moved her business from Latinoamerica to the Midwest in the States. I fell in love with a Minnesotan boy and moved my business over here to be together! Our love and our love story is a constant inspiration for my job!
Photography has always been my strongest creative outlet. I started photographing weddings for friends and quickly became in love with the art of capturing love stories.
I am very proud to work with wonderful clients who value the art and are amazing people to get to know!! I am also happy to be able to help and coach other creatives and business owners, who are looking to make their business a success and find a more fulfilling connection to their work.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
When it comes to my creative journey, my goal is to create things that make me feel and make people feel. I want to make sure my images evoke feelings of joy and nostalgia and bring memories back. I try to look at different forms of art and artists. Every now and then I run into artists that I admire, and I get consumed in their work and explore it with my heart for a while. I look at it, and try to absorb it! I think when that happens I am trying to find what resonates with my soul and how can I liberate that part of me more and more.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Since my background is a mix of marketing, computers and art, I started my business by building my own website. (the one I have now was through an amazing agency) – When I first started , finding clients was the main focus so I started by blogging and creating content. My blog and website are the best source of leads and connections, and I am happy that is also now the source of my mentorships and coaching camps.
