We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Latrice Knuckolls. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Latrice below.
Hi Latrice, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
Absolutely — naming your business feels like naming your legacy. It’s not just about sounding catchy, it’s about meaning something. And for me, EvolveWorks came from two core truths I’ve learned through experience:
You have to evolve.
And the work is required.
I created EvolveWorks because I’ve been on the side of burnout. I’ve been the person doing everything, wearing every hat, and wondering why nothing was working. And what I realized was — I didn’t need more hustle. I needed clarity, strategy, and a willingness to grow. That’s where the word Evolve came from.
We don’t get to the next level by staying the same. We grow, we shift, we stretch. Sometimes uncomfortably. But that’s the only way we move forward — both in life and in business.
Now the “Works” part has a double meaning:
Yes, I build systems and strategies that actually work — but I also deeply believe that the work is required.
Life isn’t easy. Running a business isn’t easy. And success doesn’t fall in your lap — you earn it. You earn it through discipline, mindset shifts, getting uncomfortable, and evolving who you are, both personally and professionally.
EvolveWorks is more than a brand name — it’s a belief system.
If you’re willing to do the work, if you’re open to change, and if you’re ready to align your vision with structure — then I’m here to walk with you, and help you build something that truly works.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m Latrice Knuckolls — the Founder and Principal Consultant of EvolveWorks, a business strategy and systems consulting firm where we believe that evolution is required, and the work is non-negotiable if you want to build a business that actually works.
Before launching EvolveWorks, I spent 19 years working in corporate America — across multiple industries, including sales, operations, and corporate development. I helped both large companies and small businesses grow, scale, and succeed by identifying gaps, building structure, and driving strategy. That real-world experience shaped how I approach business today — with a clear understanding of both the big picture and the daily grind.
I’ve worked with corporate leadership teams, government entities, and entrepreneurs to implement systems, develop growth strategies, and transform ideas into tangible results. My work isn’t based on theory — it’s based on proven experience and execution.
What We Do at EvolveWorks
At EvolveWorks, we help entrepreneurs and organizations move from scattered to structured, from stuck to scalable. Our services include:

Systems setup and automation
Offer creation and pricing structure
Marketing clarity and messaging alignment

Government relations and strategic consulting for local agencies & vendors
We also offer digital products, custom playbooks, coaching intensives, and our signature Roadmap to Success Session — a one-on-one consultation designed to help entrepreneurs get clear on what’s working, what’s not, and exactly what needs to shift.
Whether you’re launching or scaling, we create the framework that makes your vision work — so your business runs smoothly, profitably, and with purpose.
What Sets EvolveWorks Apart
What makes EvolveWorks different is how deeply we care about building real businesses — not just brands.
We don’t just give advice — we get in the trenches with our clients and walk with them through the strategy, the implementation, and the growth process. We’re not here to hand you a binder and walk away. We help you build what’s in the binder.
I bring two things that make a powerful combination:
Corporate-level discipline and execution, backed by 19 years of experience in the business world
And heart-centered consulting that meets people where they are — because strategy doesn’t work if it doesn’t fit your life
We don’t do one-size-fits-all. At EvolveWorks, we build around you — your capacity, your goals, and the reality of your life.
Most of our clients come to us overwhelmed, stuck in survival mode, tired of winging it, and ready for a real plan. Whether you’re a one-woman brand, a mid-sized team, or an organization navigating government partnerships — we help you build a business that works, and feels good to run.
What truly sets me apart is that I’ve lived it.
I know what it’s like to hit ceilings, to carry the weight of your vision alone, and to wonder if it’s even worth it. And I know what it takes to shift from chaos to clarity — because I’ve done it myself.
I’m also not a gatekeeper. I believe deeply in seeing entrepreneurs — especially Black women and underestimated founders — win, grow, and thrive. I give my clients the playbook. We don’t just talk about ideas.
We implement. We execute. We evolve.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m most proud of the transformations I’ve witnessed in my clients — watching people who felt stuck, unsupported, and unclear build businesses that finally feel aligned, profitable, and sustainable. That’s why I do what I do.
Publishing my book, 24 Systems for a Thriving Business, is another proud moment. It’s a straightforward, no-fluff guide to building a real business foundation — and it’s helped entrepreneurs across the country shift from chaos to clarity.
I’m also proud of the way EvolveWorks has been able to bridge private and public sectors, helping small businesses understand how to position themselves for local government contracts and strategic partnerships that create long-term impact.
What I Want You to Know
If you’re a visionary entrepreneur who’s tired of winging it…
If you’ve built a business but know it’s missing structure…
If you feel called to do more — but you’re overwhelmed and under-supported…
If you’ve ever felt like you were made for more, but you’re stuck in the mess of trying to figure it all out — you’re not alone. And you don’t have to do it alone.
EvolveWorks exists to help you build boldly, scale smart, and evolve on purpose — with strategy, systems, and support that meet you where you are and grow with you.
You bring the vision. I’ll help you make it work.
Have you ever had to pivot?
One of my biggest pivots came when I realized that working hard wasn’t enough — I needed to work differently.
I had spent nearly two decades in corporate America. I knew how to close deals, manage teams, and drive results. I was good at what I did. But somewhere along the way, I felt a shift. I had helped corporations and small businesses win for years — but I was tired of building everyone else’s vision while mine sat on the shelf.
So I took the leap and launched my own business.
And like many entrepreneurs, I dove in full speed — vision high, structure low. I had the passion, I had the work ethic, but I didn’t have the foundation. I was doing all the things… and burning out in the process.
That was my first major pivot: I had to slow down to speed up.
I paused, took a step back, and started doing the same work on my own business that I had done for so many others. I created a full business plan. I built systems. I documented processes. I got clear on my offer, my audience, my voice.
That’s when everything changed — because I stopped building reactively and started building intentionally.
Another major pivot was expanding into government consulting and vendor relations. I realized there was a huge gap between small business owners and local government opportunities. Many talented entrepreneurs were missing out on funding, contracts, and partnerships simply because they didn’t understand the language, process, or positioning required to win in that space.
So I leaned into my background and built a lane — helping businesses not only scale, but also navigate local government contracts, community partnerships, and procurement processes with confidence. It’s become one of the most rewarding parts of my work.
These pivots taught me something powerful:
Every stretch, every shift, every hard stop — it’s shaping you for where you’re going.
But you have to be willing to listen, adjust, and move differently when the moment calls for it.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience isn’t just something I developed — it’s something I had to activate early in my entrepreneurial journey.
In the beginning, I was fortunate. I landed two major clients right out the gate — and just like that, I had replaced my high-paying corporate salary. I thought to myself, “This is going to be easy. I’m one of the lucky ones.”
I had just quit my job, and on day one of full-time entrepreneurship, I was making the same money I made working 9 to 5. It felt like confirmation… at first.
But by month two, reality hit. I was buried in work, stressed out, and stretched thin.
It didn’t feel like freedom. It didn’t feel like ownership.
It felt like I had just created another job for myself — only now, I had no team, no structure, and no boundaries.
I had to take a hard look at what I was building and ask myself: Is this really what I wanted?
I made a bold decision:
I stopped taking new clients. I paused the money.
Sounds crazy, right?
But I knew I wasn’t building a hustle. I was building a firm — something that would be sustainable, respected, and capable of scaling with integrity.
I didn’t want to be just another pop-up boutique consultant with a nice Instagram page.
I wanted to be known for quality, consistency, and real transformation.
So I went back to the drawing board and rebuilt the entire foundation of EvolveWorks.
And I remember waking up one morning during that rebuild, feeling exhausted — not physically, but spiritually.
I had poured so much into building something meaningful, but I was running on fumes.
That was my turning point.
I restructured my business from the inside out. I built the systems, created SOPs, clarified my offers, refined my client journey, and realigned with my mission. I shifted from chaos to clarity — and from surviving to scaling.
That’s what resilience looks like.
Because resilience isn’t just about pushing through.
It’s about knowing when to pause, when to pivot, and when to protect the vision — even if it costs you short-term income.
In entrepreneurship, resilience is non-negotiable.
You will be tested — mentally, emotionally, and financially.
You will have seasons that stretch you and force you to become the version of yourself your business needs next.
But if you’re willing to stop, realign, and do the work —
you won’t just bounce back. You’ll come back better.
That’s what I did.
And that’s what I now help others do through EvolveWorks — build businesses that don’t just look good, but feel good to run.
