Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Latrecha Davidson . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Latrecha, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all started with my daughter. She had really dry skin when she was a toddler, and the doctors wanted to give her strong steroid cream. I felt it was too much for her skin so I researched and found that shea butter but be better for her. So I made a test batch and used it for 30 days. And it helped clear her skin right up. So I figured if it helped her I can help others. (No Im no doctor but natural remedies do help). I posted on facebook how it help her skin and others wanted me to make them some, This was 2019 and the beginning of my entrepreneurship. I stared with shea butter then added the following to my line up. Black soap, body wash, turmeric soap, body fragrance oil and rose oil. The sale of these items started to slow down when other started to also market the same products. So I wanted to pivot and start selling something else but wasn’t sure. I was on YouTube ( became a thing when I had kids..lol) and this lady video started play her name was Rachel the owner of Mr. Nola Glitter. She was designing a tumbler. She made it look so relaxing and easy. I showed my husband and said I can do this. He laughed but said try it. I made my first tumbler for my kid’s teachers and they loved them. That was all I need to spark the idea to sell them. I posted the next few on facebook and the orders started coming. I had even set up a website or payment option, I was taking cash. My husband then said it was time to put the wheels in motion and set up a proper business. I did I came up with a new business name and opened up my website. I still own the name The Essential shop (shea butter business) I now own the name Creative Kreations ( tumblers and crafts).

Latrecha, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Latrecha Davidson, I’m a wife and mother of 2. I started of as hobby to supply skin care needs for my daughter. It turned into a business for my family. When I first stared I was making skin care products, Now I’m making tumblers and craft items, tee shirts, blinging shoes, making key chains and more. What set me apart from others is that I think outside the box. I go over and beyond to make ever client happy. I’m learning new skills and techniques everyday. Most crafters try to keep up with what’s trending. I try to become the trend.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What helped me build my reputation, was word of mouth. When I first stared I was only making products for my family immediately and extended. They was posting before and after pictures and the shares and like grew and other stared reaching out. Even with I stared the tumblers only family. When ppl seen the memorial tumblers I was doing everyone wanted on with their family on it dead and alive. Also my fast turnaround. I always give myself a grace period but I always produce way before the time given. I believe that is the most important thing customers love about me.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
As mentioned before I stared off with a skin cared business it stared of good, product was flying out the door, but then it started to slow down, I didn’t get rid of the business but I pivoted to another product to sale. My first business is still running but by word of mouth and referrals. The tumbler business had been more lucrative.
