We were lucky to catch up with Latreasha Givens recently and have shared our conversation below.
Latreasha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
I’ve been in the beauty industry as a hairstylist, for over 30 years. 7years ago, I stepped out on faith and decided to turn to a Salon suite. 2 years ago I signed my 1st commercial lease and found the perfect building. I wish I would have became a salon owner sooner but don’t regret the journey. I know that at the age I am now I look at things and business differently. In a more mature and seasoned perspective. If I could change anything about my experience, I would have made more wise decisions in saving money better. That’s what I would do differently as a young entrepreneur.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hi my name is Latreasha but my clients know me as Treasy. I own Hair By Treasy Salon LLC. My focus is on natural, healthy hair. I offer most natural services, such as Loc’s, flat twist, two-strand twist and protective styles. I also offer barber services.
I have my own Hair By Treasy Oil that I make specifically for my clients.
I love to use Design Essentials Products as well as Kera Care, Chi, and It’s a 10.
I think what’s sets me apart from other stylist is my love for the over all care of hair . Seeing clients that may have had issues with growing their hair or creating the right regimen and routine.
At my Salon all textures are welcomed and treated with the most professional and delicate care.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
The lesson I had to learn, is to always be prepared. This industry is all about change. If you’re not ready to embrace all the changes and hair trends. You won’t survive the industry . Always be ready to learn master your craft. 20 years ago I would have never thought I’d be doing Loc’s. And that’s 75 percent of my business. I’m glad I embraced it.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my reputation and market were a few things. I learned to use social medias to market my brand.
I stay consistent with all media channels.
IG, Facebook, TikTok etc
I continue to post.
Clients repost or S/O their experience.
I make sure to respond to potential new clients/business as promptly as I can.
