We caught up with the brilliant and insightful LaToya Toya a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

LaToya, appreciate you joining us today. Can you share a customer success story with us?

A customer by the name of Lathetta Havis came to us with her concerns about needing to lose weight. Customer tried many tricks and nothing became successful for her. We placed her on three natural products: Soursop tea, Burdock root tea, and sea moss gel beginning of November 2022. LaToya, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

Channing Pearson – This business 0f ours (Sea of Things) was just a idea at one time but it actually became a reality in December 2022. I Channing Pearson, part owner was diagnosed with EXTREME high blood pressure in my late teens by the time I was 20 years old I had a heart attack so I’ve been battling with these issues and many more such as heart trouble, stage 3 Kidney Failure, Gout, and so many other issues. Fast forward a few years later to the age of 35 I had a stroke while driving and that’s when the plan started to become my reality. I started eating sea moss gel and studying more about natural healing methods and once I saw how it helped me, my mind went into overdrive. Fast forward again, to now I’ve reversed my kidneys, my heart is healing from the the damages from the heart attack and stroke. I’ve been receiving great news from my doctors at every doctor visit. January 2023 was our official start date for Sea of Things.

LaToya Toya – I use to have a lot of stomach issues pertaining to Fibroids. There were many nights I cried myself to sleep. One day in January 2022, I got fed up with excruciating pain and went to go see my doctor. My doctor sent a Ambulatory referral to the Gastroenterology office. I looked at her and told her I did not want to have surgery. I never really cared for surgeries and medicines. Immediately I began changing my diet. I stopped eating junk foods, processed foods, stopped drinking sodas, I stopped purchasing products with chemicals in them, such as, certain shampoos, conditioners, soaps, deodorant, toothpaste etc.. Fast forward, on December 12, 2022 my partner and I were watching tv. The holy spirit said, “Get up and go make some sea moss gel.” I ran to the kitchen, made a batch of sea moss gel, I added natural fruit flavors and told Facebook we now make and sell sea moss gel. My business partner and I ate sea moss gel three times per day and we drunk a lot of our herbal teas. I was able to lose weight tremendously. I went from 190 pounds all the way down to about 165 pounds in 2023 alone. As of April 2023, my Fibroids dissolved. My body began feeling better, my skin became vibrant, my natural hair grew thicker and longer, my foods can properly digest better, my body is happier when I only consume fruit and vegetables. Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?

On December 12, 2022, after making my 1st batch of sea moss gel, I immediately ran to my FB followers to notify them I was selling sea moss gel. About 50 people from Chattanooga, TN (my hometown- LaToya Toya) advised me to bring all of my final product to the city so they can purchase. I packed up 1k worth of sea moss gel and herbal teas, drove to the city on December 15th and I SOLD-OUT of all of my products. Fast forward, we then took the money that was made and invested it into purchasing an LLC, signing up with the Secretary of State, purchase of more products, etc.. That was the formulation of Sea of Things. By January 2023, we were an official business. Prior to December 12, 2022, I use my own personal credit cards to purchase containers, seaweed to make sea moss gel, and more.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

We promoted and marketed our products 7 days per week on all social media platforms (about 12-15 pages). Our customers began telling their family and friends about us and our products. The word about Sea of Things began to spread like a wildfire. We also started doing Consultations over the phone. After a short while, we began participating in pop ups shops throughout Atlanta, GA and networking with like-minded business owners. Now we participate in podcast and live interviews across the country. We have radio commercials from Alabama to Tennessee. We’re participating in magazine photo shoots and more. We also attend private and public events where we have to talk about our products from Atlanta, GA, to Alabama, and to Chattanooga, TN. We help feed the homeless in multiple states. We have customers in over 35 states in America. Some of those customers are business owners, magazine owners, and more. They help us spread the word about our holistic living and teachings. A couple of our videos on Facebook has gone viral. That alone have helped up build our audience.
