Hi Latoya, thanks for joining us today. What’s the kindest thing anyone has ever done for you?

Without a doubt, it was when my dear friend of many years, Whitney Williams, turned one of my biggest dreams into reality.

After simply hearing me talk about my plans, Whitney took it upon herself to purchase the LLC for my business—LaToya’s Special Touch, LLC. But she didn’t stop there. She gathered our family and friends and organized a beautiful kickoff party to celebrate the launch. I was overwhelmed—in the best way.

To this day, I’m still beyond grateful. Whitney’s love, genuine spirit, and unwavering support have left a permanent mark on my heart. She continues to go above and beyond, and I’m forever thankful to have her in my life.

My name is LaToya Taylor, and I’m the proud owner and founder of LaToya’s Special Touch, LLC, a professional residential and commercial cleaning service dedicated to creating clean, healthy, and welcoming spaces for homes and businesses.

How It All Began

My journey into the cleaning industry started with a genuine passion for cleanliness, order, and helping others feel comfortable in their spaces. Over the years, I found that I not only had a gift for making spaces shine, but also a deep sense of satisfaction in providing peace of mind for my clients. I realized that a clean environment does more than look good—it uplifts moods, boosts productivity, and improves quality of life.

With the encouragement of loved ones and the incredible support of a dear friend who helped me officially launch my LLC, LaToya’s Special Touch was born. It’s more than a business—it’s a dream realized.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

One of the biggest lessons I had to unlearn was the idea that staying in my comfort zone—or only leaning on familiar people and spaces—would be enough to grow or succeed.

When I started this journey with LaToya’s Special Touch, LLC, I expected support to come mostly from those closest to me—family, friends, people I had known for years. But what I learned quickly is that most of the genuine support, opportunities, and encouragement came from people I didn’t know at all. Strangers became clients, advocates, and even cheerleaders for my brand in ways I never imagined.

At the same time, I had to come to terms with the fact that not everyone will be happy for you. Some people you thought would walk the journey with you either fell off, stayed silent, or simply couldn’t handle your growth. And that’s okay. That’s part of the process.

I had to unlearn the belief that I could (or should) take everyone with me. Growth requires separation sometimes, and stepping outside what’s familiar is often where your biggest blessings are waiting.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

The most effective strategy I’ve used to grow my clientele has been simple but powerful: word of mouth and treating people with respect.

When you show up consistently, do quality work, and treat every client like they matter, people notice—and they talk about it. Many of my clients have come from personal referrals, and that’s something I’m truly proud of. It means the work is speaking for itself.

I also believe that respect goes a long way—respecting people’s time, their space, their investment, and their trust. Building real relationships with clients, being professional, and keeping my word has helped me build a strong reputation, and that reputation keeps the business growing.
