We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Latoya Rattery a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Latoya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
Don’t jeopardize your mental and physical health to earn a living.
A new year doesn’t equate to a new start. Likewise, not showing signs of illness doesn’t equate to wellness. We tend to make new year’s resolutions, but I didn’t need a resolution – I needed to RESET. Wellness is a dimensional lifestyle, which is a personal initiative to be mastered through the management of your mind, body, and spirit.
I recall the day, lying on my apartment floor asking ”God to fix my unbalanced life.”. This was a reality check after experiencing an unexpected health decline, I had a decision to make…would I continue in a downward spiral or take back my life? I was burned out due to work-related stress and harassment, my entire life was interrupted. After I quit my job – I looked up at the ceiling, I realized that the next chapter of my life starts with a RESET. I had to become the CEO of my own life. I created a lifestyle blueprint and jumped headfirst into a new vibration, and my transformation led me on a path of recovery and discovery.
Through prayer, coaching, and therapy, I begin experiencing changes in my health and mindset. While in recoveriy, my desire increased to develop a faith-based community that focuses on wellness and business education.
About 41% of people who work 50 plus hours a week reported their companies don’t address burnout and 36% don’t know whether programs are an option. I believe workplace burnout awareness on average is becoming less popular. Don’t wait for an illness to visit the doctor. We can’t bury our health into the ground or avoid it altogether without building a personal health consciousness.
In March 2020, I launched my company Bold University, LLC. Our multidisciplinary wellness and business team provides lifestyle, business, and leadership coaching to help busy, high-achieving, and successful professional women. This year we began our monthly walks to bring like minded female professionals together.
Latoya, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
After facing burnout as a young professional I wanted to create a club that assist professional women with wellness education. Today, I help women in leadership establish wellness roadmaps to improve their standards and structure in life and business to help busy, high-achieving, and successful professional women create synergy between work and life ultimately reducing the impact of mental and physical illness among women.
