Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Latoya Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Latoya, thanks for joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
As a mother of 4 beautiful children some people can’t believe the amount of things I do. I work as an educator full time, I have authored 2 books, I paint, and I co-host the podcast called “Becoming Eva.” In order to be successful you must be consistent in your craft, and keep learning. Each season of Becoming Eva we identify areas of growth and work towards those goals. When I’m writing sometimes I will write at least a paragraph, or page, or even chapter each day until I’ve completed it. I set goals such as by Thanksgiving I will find my editor, or design my book cover. I think it takes a village of support whenever you are trying to achieve any goal. My husband, godparents, neighbors, in-laws, and friends provide support when I’m working on a deadline and may need someone to watch the kids. I use a family calendar to keep track of appointments, family events, in studio production dates, and writing goals. Life stresses come, but you have to persevere and keep going.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an author of “The One Who Restores” and “Secrets of the Sexy & Shameless.” I have a publishing company called “Kashon Books.” I started writing my first book when I was going through the grieving process. My boyfriend of 4 years was killed in a car accident, which left me alone in a city by myself. I started to write as I was dealing with the different traumas that occurred leading up to me losing my boyfriend and how to deal with life. I started to paint and draw again. I ended up meeting my husband the following year and he was instrumental with the completion of my first book. I designed my book cover and discovered how to publish a book.
As I discovered my passion for writing, and painting I was led to another avenue of creativity. I saw a vision of me doing a talk show. I discussed the vision with my husband because he is a co-host of Trackstarz. He encouraged me to start with a podcast and work towards that goal. I partnered up with Maya Dawson and asked her to join me on the journey of being a podcast host. We did a white board session and created our vision, mission, target audience and the name of our podcast. “Becoming Eva” is currently in season 5 and we have been making strides with each season. Our vision for Becoming Eva is to break silence within the Christian female community while fostering authenticity, transparency and healing. Our mission is by utilizing media (podcasts, television, music, books, plays, spoken word/poetry, etc.) to create a platform for women to glean from one another regarding real life topics via interviews, conferences, workshops, tools and resources.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist or creative is freedom of creative expression. I can take my ideas of book covers and design them the way I want to design them. I can write about all of my thoughts, and feelings that I have without limitations. We can talk about any topics that we want to talk about on our Becoming Eva podcast. We can have whoever we want as a guest without limitations. We designed our set the way that we wanted it to look like for our in studio productions. We can control our starts and stops of the season, which allocates breaks throughout the year.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
For our Becoming Eva podcast we keep in touch with clients throughout the year by staying in touch through social media, email, and phone. We are constantly adding to our list of guests for Becoming Eva. We continue to find new guests each season. We use our Trackstarz connections to add guests on our roster for the upcoming seasons. Sometimes we connect with guest through social media if we don’t already have a relationship with them. We foster brand loyalty by having brand ambassadors. Brand ambassadors commit to reposting social media flyers to market for the upcoming episodes. They share our information with people that they know to help grow our brand.
