We were lucky to catch up with LaToya Jyadon recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, LaToya Jyadon thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I have always had a heart for people. I love helping people, helping them reach their fullest potential, and I genuinely want to see them happy. I have this philosophy as a teacher, and I have it as a photographer as well. When I am gone, I want people to know I gave them all I had and always had their best interests at heart.
I want to be remembered as someone who was always real and honest, and everything that I did was out of love, and it came from a good place. I want people to know that I tried my best to help them be the best version of themselves.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Having spent over 13 years as a high school English teacher and over six years working in retail, I have had a front-row seat to many life-changing moments for my students and customers. After deciding to make a shift to photography and realizing people and portraits were my passion, it was a no-brainer to do senior & portrait photography. There is no better way to blend my professional career with the hobby that I love.
Many of my clients’ photoshoot goals are to gain more self-confidence. Through us working together to plan their photoshoot, I have found that we accomplish their goals even after their final gallery is delivered. Many of my female senior clients feel that they have an inner “model,” and some do go on to pursue that dream after they see how they look in their images. Most of my portrait clients are proud that whatever moment they are celebrating, they have a product to always look back on as a reminder of their accomplishment. Whatever my clients’ goals are, I make sure we make it happen to the highest level.
As a photographer, I am most proud that I can add joy and happiness to my client’s life by showing them the best version of themselves. I love helping people and seeing them happy, and it warms my heart when a client sees their images and falls in love with them. Their reactions during and after the photoshoot are priceless! This is all possible because of the teamwork in the planning process before their photoshoot. I help bring their vision to fruition, and we always create a masterpiece!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
We live in a world today where people are forced to be and look a certain way. I want my clients to be able to see and love themselves for who they are, not who someone or society wants them to be. I aim to create unique senior and portrait experiences where my client’s unique style and personality are cultivated and celebrated. I want them to see themselves in ways they may never have known were possible. This creates a unique experience they will always remember, and I want my clients to gain even more confidence than when they started their journey with me.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is experiencing the sheer joy and excitement on my client’s faces when they see their images during their photoshoot and after when they receive their final images and products. Knowing that I had a part in their joy is exhilarating. Granted that I love to help people, it gives me satisfaction knowing that what we produced together as the client and photographer is the reason for their happiness!
