We were lucky to catch up with Latoya Cooper recently and have shared our conversation below.
Latoya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
My team and I at Music Meets The Boardroom are committed to closing the opportunity gap for Black Women In Music through helping artists align to be CEOs. Building legacy through thriving brand ownership!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Hey SuperStar! Let me share how we are changing the music industry for the better!
My name is Latoya Cooper, I am the founder of MUSIC MEETS THE BOARDROOM, the #1 Platform For Black Women In Music.
We created the organization after noticing a major void within the music community – lack of access to information that would help talented artists of color succeed in greater numbers, move with purpose around your gift, business confidence, stay safe and keep ownership of your art!
As a successful self sustained business woman sought after by music industry channels for my expertise and fresh direct approach. I have a special love for supporting the unique experiences and needs women in music face throughout your music career – especially, black women.
Women and communities of color have very limited resources all together that cater to our unique needs as artists and creatives. After digging even deeper I learned, black women in the arts have almost no committed business development resources even though black women play a major role in the influence and shaping of American and International Music.
My team and I are committed to closing the opportunity gap for black women in music, helping artists align to be CEOs.
I am a born VISIONARY, an accomplished Recording and Touring Artist, Entrepreneuress and have been featured on Essence.com and Good Morning Texas, just to name a few”! I have over a decade in the project management space and hold a Master’s of Business Administration. I have also spoken and been a part of the largest music business conferences in the world including “CD Baby” and SXSW”.
When I am not performing, I use my “Gift of Vision” and extensive know-how to help artists like you shift your business model from surviving to thriving, by leading with your superpower, nurturing your CEO traits and building a clear custom plan of action toward achieving your BIGGEST CAREER GOALS.
The mission behind our annual “Indie Artist Power” conference is to bring in knowledgeable experts of all backgrounds to share career and legacy changing information with open and ambitious women of color, hungry for career progress and insight.
The mission behind our 1-on1 business strategy sessions and exclusive “Elite Artist Network” is to build a community of like-minded artists who have a safe space to focus on their music and business development.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
What has helped build the Music Meets The Boardroom reputation is our strong team! We have a great PR team (Nouvelle PR Firm) who is committed to the mission of what you do. Our business manager is hard at work building brand connections and partnerships. We have the most supportive Tiktok followers in the world! The artists within the “Elite Artists Network” community share the powerful information with others, which is part of your business principles “When you learn, teach!” It is a movement everyone can be a part of!
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
The best advice I have for managing a team and maintaining high morale is listen! Your team is smarter than you, let them lead the way on their area of expertise. If you don’t have confidence in your team, you need a new team. Also, always be honest with your team. Your team can see and feel what’s going on, inform them with an authentic heart and positivity.
