Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Latnie. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Latnie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about the things you feel your parents did right and how those things have impacted your career and life.
My parents instilled in me the value of authenticity and treating others as I would like to be treated. They are individuals of strong moral character, emphasizing that as long as I conduct myself with kindness and integrity, I won’t have to worry about much in life.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My given name is Delyn Latnie, but throughout school, my peers would call me “De” or “Latnie.” I am a hip-hop artist currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. Both sides of my family are from Michigan, but I was born in Cincinnati, OH. Growing up, we moved to several places, including Columbus, Ohio, where I started writing and performing music at the age of 12. Throughout high school, I wrote a few songs, but I didn’t start taking my craft seriously until after high school, by which time I was living in Fort Myers, FL.
Many songs in my catalog were written to motivate others to be the best version of themselves. I love writing music for people who are striving to improve themselves. I genuinely feel like my purpose in life is to help people realize that at any given moment, they are who they want to be. This, I would say, is what sets me apart from other artists; I truly want to empower my listeners. For example, when you listen to my song “Ten Toes Down” on a Monday morning, I want you to walk into your job or business and feel unstoppable all week.
At this moment, I am very proud of my two projects released last year titled “2 COMMITTED” & “COMMITTED 4 LIFE.” I received a lot of great feedback from my listeners. This month, I will start to release more visuals for “COMMITTED 4 LIFE” via my website Latnie.net and will release the next installment by April.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
What is most rewarding for me is the manifestation of a song. Taking an idea or a moment in life and giving it a melody coupled with metaphors, double and triple entendres will always be my favorite part. Just imagine being an architect drawing up a home or building; then, you go to the site when it’s complete and see the creation from your imagination in real-time. This is the same feeling I get when my music is played. There is no better feeling in the world.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
Neville Goddard’s books and lectures have significantly influenced my entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy. After delving into Neville Goddard’s teachings, I had to unlearn the art of adopting a defeatist mentality. Neville made understanding the law of attraction and the art of manifesting much easier for me.
Growing up, my parents were very religious, and by default, so was I. As a teenager, I began questioning the validity of Christianity and the Bible. This pivotal moment in my journey led me down the path of realizing that there is no third party in control of my life. No “God” or “Devil” causing good or bad things to happen to me. Now, I fully accept responsibility for the thoughts I give energy to.
I’ve also had to learn a different type of faith — having faith that the desired result will manifest, rather than faith in an imaginary figure overseeing my every move. Where I am currently in life is a reflection of my thoughts and the actions I put behind them.
