We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Latisha Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Latisha below.
Latisha, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
The craziest and most positive thing in my business happened recently. I have been going through a lot of transition since last year (2023). A little back story is that in 2020 it was determined that I had a brain tumor. It’s called a Schwannoma it’s benign and considered “slow growing” When I was first diagnosed, I was told that I had a good 40 years before anything serious would happen. It had probably been there for at least 10 years. Fast forward well in 2 years this “slow-growing” had doubled in size, I had lost my hearing, and driving, and walking were a challenge, these are just a few of the things I endured.
Towards the end of 2022, 3 days before 2023 I had one of the worst headaches I have ever had. Honestly, I had started having headaches earlier but this by far was the worst. I went to the hospital in February and was told that my brain was swelling, I had to have emergency brain surgery so on March 1, 2023, I had my first brain surgery to relieve the pressure and remove the fluid buildup. I was scheduled to come back in 3 weeks for my second surgery to remove the tumor, On March 28, 2023, I endured a 16-hour surgery. Most of the tumor was removed, however, the nerve damage had been done so the right side of my face droops a little and I still have no hearing in my right ear.
I had to do radiation treatments after, starting in July twice a day, five days a week. My final day of radiation was August 8. Honestly, I am grateful to God for bringing me through. Now let’s fast forward to 2024, things are going well for me, got a new office space, moved into a new home, and purchased our 2nd vehicle. Well, here is where the story shifts, I was riding in my car and heard God tell me to close down my business!!! To NO longer charge for my services, I was to empower people who wanted to be empowered. Needless to say, I was shaken a little and confused, lol we just moved into a new home, what! Oh, this happened on June 20th, today is July 10, yes it’s that recent. I obeyed and honestly enjoy it more now that I can freely empower and help others. I had to move out of my office, yet another space was provided for me at no charge, I received a position that I was not looking for to empower young people that provides an income that I did not ask for, and someone asked me to manage their business and offered me 50% of the deals that we close! God is so Good and faithful. As I type this, I simply want to encourage and empower you to know that most times in life and business the increase is in the decrease. So I closed my business and I still provide the services needed to assist others.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I had a for-profit and not-for-profit. Embrace Your Ugly means to be (Unique, Genuine, Love, & simply You) is my not-for-profit, and LL Anderson Coach dba Anderson Coaching and Consulting Firm was my for-profit. I got into this industry because I have empowered others all my life. I started by teaching Praise Dancing at different churches, and from there it went into family intervention and bloomed into what it is today.
I dealt with a lot of young ladies who had self-esteem issues, who had been molested, raped, violated, bullied, and so much more. I could empower them because I had endured all of these things. From there it grew into me helping women by creating empowerment conferences. From there it expanded into men as well.
I am most proud that I can say I honestly made a difference in people, that caused them to grow.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A story that illustrates my resilience is, after having two brain surgeries. the plan was to start my business up again in January of 2024. However, I started up again 1 month after radiation. Through this journey, I was very transparent and gained a lot of clients and people who simply wanted to connect with me. I put on a She Survived empowerment workshop, while still healing internally.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
What helped me build my reputation within my market was my work ethic, my honesty, and that I am not money-driven. I worked with people on financial levels and everyone also got the same treatment… My All 200%, of what I had.
