We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Latifah Bucknor a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Latifah, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Looking back on your career, have you ever worked with a great leader or boss? We’d love to hear about the experience and what you think made them such a great leader.

If it wasn’t for my manager at the last spa position where I worked for 6.5 years showing and teaching me little things along the way, I may not have been as equipped as I was once I stepped out to build my own business. Being able to understand the theory behind being a service provider, what guests expect, what it should look like, and how it should operate. Bosslady as I called her, caught me at a young age and was able to positively guide me in the right direction so I could grow in the areas of self-development personally and professionally in the spa industry.

I’m Latifah Bucknor, Licensed Massage Therapist, wife, and mother of two amazing kids. I’ve worked in the spa & wellness industry for the last 18 years. Graduating college in 2005 with an Associate’s Degree in Science for Massage Therapy. Since then I have gained many continuing education credits and much knowledge in all areas of the human body; working for two well-known wellness franchises, a day spa, and a chiropractic office. After getting sick during the pandemic and returning to work, realizing there was no real way to protect therapists from catching the virus from clients at the spa, I decided it was time to step out on faith and continue building my brand.

The Omega Experience is a mobile massage concierge service. We offer an alternative holistic way to eliminate pain through massage therapy, assisted stretching, cupping therapy, and many other services. Offering in-home & in-suite massage & spa services, corporate wellness services, spa parties, and wellness event services. Aside from our services, we offer wellness products such as our aromatic candles, topical CBD cream and ointment, lavender sinus & migraine eye pillows, and cervical traction pillows extending your spa experience home.

Our gentle yet attentive approach to each client’s service and their development guarantees their safety and our appreciation for them trusting us with their wellness. Listening to their needs, and combining it with our expertise of what we know could better serve them are all ways that set us apart from others. We are most proud of the reputation our brand has earned. Whether independently or through contracting with other brands we have consistently kept a great name for ourselves throughout the city of Atlanta.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.

In 2021 I moved into a suite to save time and travel around the city with all my equipment. After much research, I went with the suite that was the most expensive and had the biggest red flag that should have been a no, and instead of listening to my first mind, I went for it anyway! I ended up catching C-vd and it put me in the hospital for a few days  and bedridden for the next month. Over the next few months, the majority of my clients continued booking mobile services because of the convenience. I stuck it out for a few months but eventually parted ways with the suite. It took months of batting with myself, tears, and feeling the feelings then I was ready to move forward. Not allowing what others thought to affect me. Everything continued flowing and the ball continued rolling. Two years later with no location overhead, I’ve been blessed to generate the same amount equal to my work checks but continue to strive for more. The moral of this story is to believe and keep going. There’s always something better waiting on the other side of fear.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

My character, reliability, loyalty, word of mouth, and clients sharing their experiences with close family and friends are a few major things that helped build my reputation.
