Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to LaTia Reed. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
LaTia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you happier as a business owner? Do you sometimes think about what it would be like to just have a regular job?
Yes, Im happier as a business owner. So far I haven’t thought about working as a regular employee helping someone else build their dreams. Let us be truthful there are plenty of challenges that come with operating your own business. The rewards of running your own business far outweigh the difficulties. I remember working in “corporate America” and not happy, tired of being told when and what I have to do on a daily basis. When you build your own business you have the luxury to do what you want and when you want. If you decide to take a power nap in the middle of the day to boost creativity and productivity, I can! I love the benefits of being a business owner, the financial rewards, the opportunity to innovate the chance to impact my community. I wouldn’t have it any other way!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a healthy bartender. I make delicious meal replacement shakes and amazing energy-boosting hydration drinks.
You could consider me a wellness coach. I’m in the field of helping individuals with their fitness and health objectives, mentoring them on activities for a healthy lifestyle, and creating customized wellness plans to manage developmental conditions. What I’m most proud of being in this business are the results clients receive from using my products and the ability to help change someone’s life one shake at a time.
The excitement I get when I realize the results clients get from my coaching techniques and products is the reason I will retire from this business. What sets me apart from others is I deeply care about helping people feel their best. I pull from my personal experiences with health and fitness and relate on a deeper level to my clients. I understand we’re all human. We all have our temptations and our vices. I try to inspire others to move beyond through motivation. I respect what they are trying to accomplish.
From carnivore to herbivore. This is what got me started on my healthy business journey. People ask me all the time “Why did you stop eating meat?” The answer is I don’t know. I always wanted to try out a plant-based diet to see how I feel. And I loved the results! Shortly after having only a plant-based diet, I started to lack In the energy department.
I was looking for something that could give me the needed energy and be as close to natural as possible. One day I’m scrolling on Facebook and came across this nutrition shop having a sip n shop. The owner (an older couple) were moving fast interacting with their guest, and radiating so much positive energy I said “I need what you all have” The couple introduced me to an “energy tea” and it tasted great! Soon afterward I felt the most amazing energy.
How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
I always get asked, “Did you take out a business loan?” I wish I did take out a business loan. Launching a small business is no easy task. It requires a lot of time, patience, discipline, planning, and often more money than anticipated. I knew I wanted to have my own business so I planned a year ahead and saved every penny I could and worked my corporate job 6 days a week. I had a goal and I was determined to accomplish it.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele would be the old-school way and that’s handing out flyers. hand to hand. Another strategy that has helped me grow my business would be social media, boosting your post to reach potential customers has been really effective. As a business, you likely offer a product or service that meets your target audience’s particular needs, Understanding the needs of your potential customers and how your product serves that need may help you determine your marketing strategy.
