Latia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
The idea for the Gallantry Room Podcast was born out of a desire to inspire, inform, and uplift caregivers and those impacted by cancer. I recognized the power of storytelling and its ability to connect people on a deeper level. We wanted to create a platform where individuals could share their stories of courage, resilience, and triumph.
The inspiration for the podcast came from my own personal experience and encounter when taking care of my father in 2020, and was able overcome the adversity in various forms. I realized that my story and the stories of others will have the potential to not only inspire others, but also provide valuable insights and lessons to help.
The Gallantry Room Podcast is a space where guests could openly share their journeys, highlighting both their challenges and victories. Our aim was to create episodes that would resonate with listeners who had faced different obstacle being a caregiver, but overcame the tragedy with unwavering strength. Each episode are designed to offer hope, motivation, and practical advice.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
Latia M. Parker, host of the Gallantry Room Podcast, a platform to inspire, inform, and uplift caregivers and those impacted by cancer. She’s also the owner of the Oncology Spa by CPC, providing therapeutic services and experiences to survivors and those undergoing treatment. In addition, she is the Executive Director for the Curtis P. Crowner Foundation, Inc.
Mrs. Parker has been providing financial management services to small businesses in her community and surrounding areas for over 15 years. Mrs. Parker holds a B.S. in Accounting and Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
Latia Parker served as a Financial Director and served on a Financial Board for non-profit organizations performing several accounting functions and managing the organization funds. She also worked as a Financial Analyst for the Department of Defense managing funds for several government programs, providing budgetary guidance, financial policies and procedures, and maintaining/analyzing budget reports.
Latia’s passion is to serve the Oncology Community. Her main goal is to help the oncology community by empowering them, providing valuable resources, and promoting holistic healing approaches.
Have you ever had to pivot?
With over 15 years of experience, I have developed a strong passion for working in the finance industry. I aspired to pursue a career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with the goal of assisting small businesses in managing their financial matters. The day my father fell ill marked a turning point for me, as it caused my passion for finance to diminish. Being a caregiver for my father inspired me to have a strong desire to support those affected by cancer and advocate for wellness within the oncology community. Deciding to pivot was an easy choice because it was a matter that resonated personally. Despite the passing of my father, his legacy remains intact and is being actively preserved and honored. He was known for his strong moral principles and genuine desire to assist others. My passion lies in helping individuals affected by cancer and empowering them to live a life of optimal quality and well-being. This is why I have decided to open an Oncology Spa and establish the Curtis P. Crowner Foundation. These initiatives aim to provide resources and support for the well-being of individuals affected by cancer.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Demonstrating my passion in a consistent manner has been instrumental in shaping my reputation in the market. By doing so, I have established credibility and earned the trust of potential clients or customers. This approach has proven to be effective in building a strong presence within the industry. Receiving a cancer diagnosis is undoubtedly an unwelcomed and challenging experience for individuals. Showing support to individuals dealing with a disease can have a profound impact on their well-being. By being there for them, it helps them develop courage and cultivate hope, which are crucial in navigating the challenges that come with their condition. My presence and encouragement can make a positive difference in their journey towards healing and recovery. By showing genuine passion and willingness to help, you can create meaningful connections with people. I place great importance on assisting the oncology community.
