We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Latasha Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Latasha, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. We’d love to hear about the best advice you’ve ever given to a client?
One of the most transformative pieces of advice I gave was to a client who felt stuck, questioning her value in the corporate world. She struggled with confidence, largely because she didn’t feel heard or seen in the workplace. We dug deep to uncover what was holding her back and found that her lack of confidence was rooted in this feeling of invisibility. Together, we identified three daily actions she could take to elevate her executive presence—even though she wasn’t in an executive role. These actions focused on increasing her visibility, creating opportunities for favorable feedback, and gradually building her confidence.
Through this process, she also uncovered hidden career superpowers she didn’t realize she was using at work—skills that were highly valuable but underappreciated. We worked on assessing and refining her career brand to future-proof her trajectory, and as a final step, we revamped her resume to highlight these newfound strengths. The results were nothing short of remarkable: she not only landed a new role but did so with a $20,000 salary increase, feeling more empowered and confident than ever before.
The lesson I took from this experience, and now apply with all my clients, is the importance of helping professionals recognize their own power and value. Often, it’s about uncovering what’s already there and learning how to confidently communicate it. This process not only transforms their careers but also their self-perception, enabling them to pursue opportunities they once thought were beyond their reach. Every client has untapped potential—it’s my mission to help them discover and leverage it.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
One of the hardest lessons I had to unlearn was the belief that simply working hard and waiting my turn would naturally lead to success. Early in my career, I found myself in situations where, despite my dedication, I wasn’t advancing as I’d hoped. It was frustrating, and I realized that being excellent at my job wasn’t enough.
The turning point came when I noticed a pattern among those who were moving ahead: they weren’t just working hard—they were strategic. I began to understand the importance of Proactive Ownership: speaking up and advocating for myself before being asked. I started initiating conversations about my career goals, asking for feedback, and taking on projects that showcased my strengths.
I also learned the value of Strategic Visibility. I realized that to grow, I needed to be seen and known by key stakeholders—those who could influence my career trajectory. This meant intentionally building relationships, sharing my achievements, and positioning myself as a go-to person for certain tasks.
Lastly, I embraced Adaptability as a Superpower. I learned to welcome change, adapt quickly, and continually seek out learning opportunities. This not only helped me stay relevant but also positioned me as someone who could thrive in any environment. I realized that those who rise to the top are the ones who aren’t afraid to pivot, take risks, and grow with the challenges they face.
These shifts were transformative. By moving from a mindset of waiting and hoping to one of strategic action and visibility, I took control of my career trajectory. Now, I share these lessons with my clients, helping them to avoid the pitfalls I encountered and empowering them to craft their own paths to success. The biggest takeaway is that career success isn’t about waiting your turn—it’s about creating your own opportunities, being seen, and continually evolving.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients for me has been a combination of referrals and speaking engagements. Many of my clients come through word-of-mouth from those who have experienced firsthand the transformation that comes from shifting their mindset and taking strategic ownership of their careers. Additionally, speaking at events and workshops allows me to connect with individuals who resonate with my message and approach. These platforms give potential clients a taste of the actionable strategies I teach, leading to meaningful connections and ongoing referrals.
