We recently connected with Latasha McCorry and have shared our conversation below.
Latasha , appreciate you joining us today. Taking care of customers isn’t just good business – it is often one of the main reasons folks went into business in the first place. So, we’d love to get a conversation going around how to best help clients feel appreciated – maybe you can share something you’ve done or seen someone do that’s been really effective at helping a customer feel valued?
So,
With my business I deal with a wide range of clients. The ones that stick out to me the most are the clients that are in prison and they have their spouses to conduct their trucking businesses on the outside. When I meet some of the wives I make sure to build special relationships with them (I do with all my clients) but in this case I know the wives are doing their best to follow the leads of their husbands so I extend an extra level of care in assisting with making sure they have all of the necessary resources to run their businesses properly. It’s funny because alot of them will include me on their weekly calls with their spouse and I have to ensure him that his wife is doing a great job on the outside and not be so hard on her. (This happens a lot) and I most definitely understand their level of frustration being on the inside but as someone who’s not in business just for the money I make sure to provide that extra level of security.
Latasha , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Latasha McCorry.
I was born and raised in Tennessee, quite the southern belle may I add.
After finishing high school, I didn’t stay put for long – I moved around to several different states outside of Tennessee, never settling in one place for more than a couple years. I enjoyed experiencing new places being that the place I grew up in didn’t provide a lot of opportunities for growth, but it also meant I never fully planted roots anywhere. I was just a young lady on the go and eager to experience life!
After over a decade of living an on-the-go lifestyle, I eventually made my way back to Tennessee. Although the state held a special place in my heart, I realized the career opportunities felt limited compared to what I had experienced over the years.
I then decided to take a chance to leave Tennessee once again and relocate to Atlanta, Georgia.
I took a work from home job after I had my son because I wanted to be able to experience all of his milestones, so I began working for Ryder Logistics in 2021. Unbeknownst to me I grew a love for logistics. I started to become invested in all areas of what it actually took to run a trucking business, so I started to study the craft heavily.
I noticed how difficult it was for the clients I assisted to get started and maintain their own businesses. Many new entrepreneurs, especially truck drivers, lacked education on topics such as the importance of properly starting their business (obtaining their LLC), managing their operating authority, (which is needed to operate on the US highways) and staying in compliance with the FMCSA.
Armed with the knowledge I had gained at a major logistics company after much preparation, and surrounding myself with those who were already in the trucking industry in August 2022, I took a leap of faith and launched my own company, LeniMaxx Logistics LLC which is named after my son. My goal is to assist aspiring business owners by educating them on the legal and regulatory steps to getting established. I guide people through getting their LLC, EIN, operating authority, finding insurance, and setting up compliant processes.
I also provide coaching to help new owner-operators understand what it takes to run a successful transportation company. It was a risk leaving my corporate job, but I find fulfillment in empowering uninformed entrepreneurs to turn their dreams into reality. I’m proud to have taken my passion and knowledge to start a business focused on assisting others.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
I think what has helped the most is staying up-to-date on all the latest regulations and changes coming from the FMCSA. The transportation industry is constantly evolving, and I make it a priority to keep learning so I can best serve my clients. Whenever the FMCSA announces new rules, I dig into the details right away. I research the impacts they will have and figure out solutions to potential problems, so I’m prepared to guide my clients smoothly through transitions. This allows me to provide valuable insight and advice no matter what challenges arise or obstacles the industry faces. My diligence with staying current on compliance topics has helped me become a go-to resource that clients know they can rely on. I take pride in having in-depth, working knowledge of industry changes to quickly address any issues or questions that come my way. My reputation has been built on a foundation of being proactive, knowledgeable and ready with solutions for my clients’ benefit.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Maintaining ongoing relationships with my clients and fostering brand loyalty is very important to me. My approach is to regularly check in with clients to see how their business is going. I have built so many great relationships because of it.
Every few months, I’ll give them a quick call or email just to touch base. I reassure them that I’m here if any questions ever come up and that they can contact me at any time. Taking a genuine interest in the success of their business strengthens our
business relationship is beyond just a typical transactional exchange. I also make sure I’m providing value by sharing relevant news and insights about the transportation industry. The goal is to demonstrate that I have their back and want to help them thrive. By maintaining this consistent outreach, I build trust and reinforce my reliability as a long-term partner invested in their business. Going the extra mile to look out for my clients ultimately earns their enduring loyalty.
I would like to thank a gentleman that’s in the trucking industry as well by the name of BoxTruckShawty for sending me my first client to kick-start my business.
