Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Latasha Horn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Latasha , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later
If I went back in time I don’t think I would have changed anything. The reason I say that is because every experience I had in my previous career led me to this point. I’ve always wanted to have my own business, however the timing was just right. Although I don’t wish the way I was launched into business on anyone. My story of entrepreneurship is a unique one.
I was just recently divorced, new to being a single mother. I remember being so afraid of failing. My toddler at that time had severe back to back medical issues. That in and of itself was the most frightening and challenging thing I have ever experienced! I was working full time while in and out of the hospital. My son almost died twice. Talk about traumatized! It was so overwhelming, having to take care of my ill son, miss days and sometimes weeks from work. It became where I no longer had paid time off, I had to make the decision to leave my job and take care of my son’s medial needs full time. I had no clue how I was going to provide. I was so used to getting my hair and nails done every two weeks. All of that ended when I had to hustle just to make ends meet. I started wearing head wraps on my head to cover my hair because I could no longer afford to go to the salon. I remember crying out to God for a way to make money from home. I couldn’t go back to working a job. Meanwhile, I received so many compliments on the style of my headwraps. People would ask me did I sell them. Immediately I got the idea to make and sell them. I took sewing in high school and decided I would hand-make headwraps. I knew someone who was familiar with e-commerce. She helped me launch an online store and created my logo. I remember having only $38.00 to my name. I went out and purchased some fabric and made headwraps to sell. I did my own photoshoot with the wraps and added them in my store. Once I launched, I immediately sold out!
So this was the start of my entrepreneurial journey!! It was the most frightening but exhilarating time in my life. I learned to trust God to provide for me and my boys and he never let me down..

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
For those of you who don’t know, yes I am a one woman show. I am a brand designer. I am owner & CEO of Tasha’s Touch- Creative Designs.
The services I now offer were developed while building my own business. I gained these skills, resources, and experience during my years of being in business. I couldn’t afford a photographer for photoshoots so I did my own. I couldn’t afford a web builder so I researched and learned how to build my own website. All of the services I offer, I learned in time and perfected my skill set. I didn’t realize this would be something that would manifest into a business! I recognize that I passionately enjoy creating for others and this was when Tasha’s Touch was birthed!
I believe it is so important to capture the very essence of what my customers embody and hold dear as their dream. My mission is to help give their business its unique brand identity like no other.
I am a brand designer & Illustrator I create visual concepts, using computer software to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate consumers. This may include logos, social media branding, & e-commerce website building. I also offer photography, photo editing & videography.
You ask me what sets me apart and I would have to say it’s my diverse skill set and my uncanny ability to bring a persons vision to fruition to the exact.
What I am most proud of is seeing the vision in someone’s mind now becoming a reality. It’s a very frustrating thing to have a vision in your mind but have no clue how to go about manifesting it! That’s where I come in! Branding is so important and a business without a brand identity will always be limited in its reach!

Have you ever had to pivot?
For those that don’t know, I am married to a pastor. My husband and I are both entrepreneurs but we also have a ministry as well. 4 years ago when we married I had a lot of pivoting to do. I decided to temporarily shut down my online boutique so that I could focus on building with my husband. It wasn’t an easy task but I answered the call to serve with my husband in ministry. I had to reprioritize and learn the new balance of life with ministry, marriage and business. There is no cookie cutter way to balancing but just try different methods until it works for you! I must say that pivoting is necessary and you must remain flexible in order to keep your sanity! Lol!!! Life happens and you must be ready to adjust accordingly.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
Ok so I’m going to go a different route here. As it relates to interpersonal relationships, I had to unlearn being so protective of my space! I had to learn to let people in to assist me and help me. Help was something I had a hard time asking for and receiving. Long story short, I didn’t like to depend on others for anything. If it was something I wanted, I went and got it. Fast forward to now with juggling ministry, a marriage, family life and business, I had to unlearn the bad habit of being too self sufficient otherwise I would burn myself out. My husband helped me a lot with this and I am so grateful!
