Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lataria Hider. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lataria, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I think success is a relative term and it really all depends on what success looks like for you. It’s easy to get ideas of what you think success means by scrolling through social media and pictures from magazines (if you’re still into those) but I believe one must truly define what success means to them. It could be the house, the car, etc. It could be meaningful relationships. It could be just making it out of the hood and into the suburbs. It could be being promoted from mopping the floor to having your own cubicle in an office. I suggest people get really clear about what they want in their life and not base it off of society’s point of view.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Before we get started, I must give full disclosure that I’m a relatively transparent person, and I’m still trying to figure out if that’s a blessing or a curse. A former coworker of mine would often call me Latalkia instead of Lataria and I probably could have taken offense since he was an older white male. However, I knew full well what he was insinuating. My name is Lataria Hider and I am the beautiful often goofy sometimes random offspring of two teenage parents who, both raised in broken homes, decided they were going to make their little family work. I was born at Parkland, the Dallas County hospital, and raised in Cedar Hill, Tx which was my parent’s version of moving on up like George and Weezy. My parent’s provided everything that I needed, many things they never had, like trips to San Antonio during the summer too many to count, but I was starving emotionally and spiritually. I struggled with low self esteem, poor self image, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and picked up some pretty bad habits along the way to deal with it all. This backstory to my life laid the foundation for my passion to see the lives of women transformed through coaching and applying Biblical principles to their lives. Yes, women who hire me get a listening ear, a motivational speaker and a Bible believing Christian, As the owner of Undeniably Unique, I create Inspirational apparel which I am most known for my Unshakable Woman t-shirts and hoodies. I am also the contributing author to several books. I’m most proud of my God-given ability to overcome insecurity, fear, and my past in order to become who I am today. Listen, we all have life experiences that have traumatized us or left us stuck in some faulty pattern. As your transformation coach, my goal is to assist you in disrupting that pattern in order to experience the abundant life that is rightfully yours.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
You know, I actually have the word “resilient” tattooed behind my ear. Between 2008 – 2011 was one of the most difficult seasons of my life. My ex husband and father of my two oldest children was basically given a life sentence and I was devasted. I went from a decent apartment and two nice cars to testifying on my ex’s behalf as a character witness, to moving back in with my parents with two small children. It was a mess and I was a mess. I felt abandoned, hopeless, humiliated, fearful frustrated, angry and depressed and stuck. I was far from Christ during that time but I am so glad that I didn’t give up on life. Though our relationship, in the free world, was short, I was gifted two beautiful children who God sent to save my life. I had a reason to keep living. As dysfunctional as I was, I knew I had to keep going.
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Staying consistent in my messaging on my social media platforms has really helped me build rapport. Since I am a Transformation Coach who teaches Biblical principles, you won’t see me posting something spiritual or inspirational one day then subliminal messages or Facebook beef the next. This is not to say that I am perfect, oh no. but that I respect my profession and care about my audience enough not to lead them astray, if at all possible. Depending on your market, that may look different for you. It’s important to remember that people want to know if you’re trustworthy. Sending mixed messages and/or being inconsistent has the potential to negatively impact the perception of your character and ultimately your business.
