We were lucky to catch up with LaTanya Hill recently and have shared our conversation below.
LaTanya, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Anytime anyone is doing something out of the norm, it is scary. It is even scarier when what you are doing is not common or relatable to a lot of people. When I began my Reiki journey, people made snide remarks, laughed at me, or thought I was losing my mind. Working in a field that some people believe contradicts their religious beliefs or does not have a tangible item to sell/buy is a major risk.
With any alternative healing, not just Reiki, you have to change an entire mindset which questions a person’s upbringing. Additionally, society pushes a medicinal agenda of pills and surgeries, but we are more than physical beings. We are spiritually energetic creatures who are able to transfer positive healing energy to one another. Opening a business that focuses on this healing belief was risky. But, here I am years later with my own business, IMREIKINOW, that is continually growing and evolving.
My background is in law and education. I grew up Southern Baptist, and I never thought I could move away from such a rigid belief system and open up to start a business around energetic healing. No one thought I could do it or that I would succeed. But, I had proof that Reiki works. I knew my intangible product could show tangible results and I never wavered from that belief. I knew that my goal in life was to help others break free from systemic belief systems and to reconnect with their spiritual selves.
This made the risk I took as not one in business as much as it was taking a risk on myself and what I thought I could accomplish. Just like me, other people should and can do the same. The risk is about how strong are you mentally and emotionally to make what you want to happen. Do you truly believe in your abilities and are you able to reject and ignore the naysayers?
Of course, there is also a level of financial literacy and business acumen that is needed, but there are courses and training programs available to help people. Also, a risk does not always need to be about business. Anyone can take a risk by just stepping out the door in the morning and engaging with others who may or may not live the same way.
There are so many ways to take a risk in this life, from a simple greeting to investing all your money in an idea. The best way to sum it up is if the risk is dependent upon you, then you must have absolute belief in yourself to accomplish your objectives. If it is dependent on others, you have to have absolute belief that you can convince others to see and follow your vision. Finally, as a Reiki Master Teacher, I hope that whatever you do, the risk will result in good outcomes for all.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

“Briefly” is difficult because I do so much for a small business. I am a writer, the creator of KA® Reiki, a Registered Holy Fire III Karuna Reiki Master Teacher, a Certified Chakra Healing Master, and the founder of IMREIKINOW®, a company focused on providing the highest level of Reiki and spiritual healing and top level instruction for Reiki certification. IMREIKINOW’s mission is to teach people how to alter their perspective on life and how to positively heal oneself while still experiencing the challenges in this world. As sole proprietor, I am constantly searching for ways to assist my clients and my students so that those within the circle of IMREIKINOW are truly spiritually connected and grounded. I offer remote and in-person healing sessions as well as remote and in-person certification classes for those who want to become certified Reiki healers. I will also begin hosting Reiki retreats in Yucca Valley for those persons interested in deep healing and for those healers who want to increase their vibration, re-certify, or become Reiki Master Teachers. I grew up surrounded by people and family with gifts of healing, prophecy, and visions. I have been a healer my entire life, but briefly stopped to focus on success in a different career path. However, through many challenging situations, I discovered that the Creator had a different plan for me. I became seriously ill and was diagnosed with Rheumatic Fever over 10 years ago. I had to undergo painful treatment for years before I decided to focus on integrating natural healing. While meditating and praying one night, I asked God how I could increase my gift to help me heal. When I awoke, I heard the words, “You need to learn Reiki.” Since I as alone, I knew that was a spiritual message. I immediately researched Reiki, realized it was similar to the “laying on hands” healing my friends and family performed down South, and I immediately signed up to become certified as a healer. Since I already practiced healing in myself, the techniques came easily to me. Once I began using Reiki with my therapy treatments, my Rheumatic Fever went into remission and my body returned to a healthier state. Even if I relapsed, I used Reiki to ease my pain and heal quicker. During this time, I was spiritually shown that Reiki was the way to hone and improve not only my healing skills, but my empathic abilities, and other spiritual gifts. I want everyone to experience the beauty of Reiki energy and learn how to awaken your spiritual gifts and your the authentic self so that peace comes into your life. In regards to writing, I have published articles about Reiki, meditation, and the healing process. I am a contributing writer for ReikiRays.com, a global Reiki organization for Reiki healers. My latest novel, “Reiki Vibrations with 33 Meditations & Affirmations,” is available for purchase online. I was recently published and featured in Universal Life Magazine , a global magazine for Reiki healers and those interested in energy healing. I am a firm believer in meditation and therefore I am also an expert teacher on one of the leading meditation apps, Insight Timer and will be an expert coach on another upcoming meditation app. I have published numerous Reiki meditations and courses available to assist people in their healing and spiritual journey. My most recent endeavors are the Reiki House located in Yucca Valley. I started this as a way to offer a place of healing for people in a very spiritual area. When I was unable to buy commercial property, my spirit told me to get residential and I ended up with a 1400 square foot, 3 bedroom 2 bath house that sits on .53 acres of desert land at the bottom of a mountain in an upscale neighborhood. The scenery is all wildlife, vegetation, Joshua trees, and city view. This is another risk that I took which is paying off for my business because it diversifies what IMREIKINOW is about and allows me to work with more healers and people in a great location. I am also in the process of creating an online resource and learning center for healers and those persons interested in healing, aptly named, The Reiki Oasis Center®. It has always been my ultimate goal to create a space where various healing methodologies are presented for the public. It will be a lot of work, but I’m patient and focused.

Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?

The most important and most helpful thing for success is genuine kindness and understanding of others. Once a person reaches a certain level as a healer, you know that we are all moving at different levels and it is a matter of spiritual development and nothing more that defines the outcome in an person’s action. Therefore, to be successful as a healer is to understand the spiritual or lack thereof of all actions, even those that are against our own ethical and moral beliefs. For clarification, I can completely understand and accept the actions of a saint and a sinner in the same manner, though my morals are in alignment with the saint and in conflict with the sinner. It is the healer’s job to help both progress on their spiritual journey. Additionally, you have to have some experience and training in finance, business techniques, and marketing. Also knowing a little bit about business law is also very helpful. Don’t be afraid to take a course and ask questions. I’m not embarrassed to ask anyone for help when needed. |

I have built my reputation by being absolutely genuine in my actions and beliefs in regards to Reiki and how it heals and helps others. I love this energy so much and it has transformed my life. I want to share this with everyone and it shows when I’m talking about Reiki and energy healing, working with others, or training them. I have also made sure to use all my professional skills and educational background to highlight Reiki to the world, such as, writing articles about Reiki, offering and creating Reiki Meditations for healing, searching for natural healers and certifying them to become Reiki healers, helping other healers when needed, and obtaining property for healing purposes and retreats. Again, I genuinely love Reiki and how it works to improve life. I even have testimonials on my Instagram and website to substantiate everything I have said.
