We were lucky to catch up with LaTange Baker recently and have shared our conversation below.
LaTange , appreciate you joining us today. Coming up with the idea is so exciting, but then comes the hard part – executing. Too often the media ignores the execution part and goes from idea to success, skipping over the nitty, gritty details of executing in the early days. We think that’s a disservice both to the entrepreneurs who built something amazing as well as the public who isn’t getting a realistic picture of what it takes to succeed. So, we’d really appreciate if you could open up about your execution story – how did you go from idea to execution?
I started making All Natural Body Productz for my family and as gifts. Then in July 2019 a childhood friend Selena said to me I should be a vendor at a stageplay that she was acting in. I got instantly nervous. I had no labels, no logo, no idea how to start and be ready in a month for stageplay.
So, I started brainstorming. My son Miles created a logo for me. I then started looking on Amazon for nice jars. I had to order labels and signage. Then the most important part…pricing my productz.
So the stageplay comes. I go super early because I had no idea what to expect. I set up my display. And then walks in about 10 of my close friends. All I could do is smile! The support was Awesome!
I met other vendors that it was there first time vending as well.
You never know what you can do until you step out on faith!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born and raised in Nirth Carolina. Once I graduated I moved to New York with my sister. I lived there for 15 years.
I am married and I reside in Atlanta. I have 2 boys, Miles and Jaxon. Plus a bonus daughter Imani.
JustScrubz All Natural Body Productz has put me in front of alot of knowledgeable people. I have learned so much from vending events, I have learned that all events are not for me. You learn to figure out your crowds. That will love your productz.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
As I started being a vendor. I had my customers take pictures in front of my table. I also asked them to follow me on social media. This was so much growth.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
